There are a few decent tutorials around the web for making WP arcades. This is one. It shows you how to integrate a mochi games feed amongst other things.
You can all add your banners to Arcade Index traffic is flowing nice. PR 2 so far. Blog is updated nearly everyday with new tips for arcade webmasters.
I currently use the Simple Machines forum software, which has a multi-user arcade.....just what I always wanted! Trouble is, I can't even get a consistent poker night started. Granted, it depends on how many forum members you have, but it is still a really nice set-up. I previously used the phpBB Arcade that carried a point system. Gave prizes for the highest scores in certain games. That was good for generating some traffic. Getting sponsors for the games was a chore, but worth the effort. Hope this helps some struggling arcade owners.
Can anyone tell me what are the current leading arcade scripts available? I'd like to start an arcade site as a sub-section of one of my sites. I'd be grateful if those in the know could give me some script suggestions. Thanks.
I'm running ProArcadem on my arcade site and I'm pleased with it. It has a few bugs but the suport you get is worth all the money. It has Mochiads integrated so in a matter of minutes you can update your site with new games everyday. They have a free version as well but the paid one is really good. You can see it in action at http://www.onlinegamesdirectory.co.uk , I'm still working on the layout and design.
Great info Maximallimit - thanks for sharing your link as well... will have to check out Mochiads too!
I use PhpAs in my arcade website. I've tested GSS and is a good alternative, but if you want some for free you can use AV Script that have the mochi addon too.
Yeah...I learned a lot from this forum, so I'm only trying to give something back. With Mochiads games, in my personal opinion , it's better to get only a few games a day, every day or at least 3-4 times a week, rather than all games at once. That way , your site will grow and update continously with very little effort and we all know that big G loves that
Game Size Do you think bigger is better for the user, I just increased the size of all games to 630 x 600 so users get a better view.. Only thing is people use different screen resolutions, what do you guys thinks best and what size do you use.
Yeah but some games are wider than they are taller and vice versa, so if you made them one size they'd look a bit weird I wouldn't mess with the size, unless you need a maximum, as a few games are too large (800x600).
As long as the game is meant for that size. A lot og games dont use vectors so they look bad when it isnt the original size, or the width and height wasnt scaled down correctly.
when you start messing with height and width thisngs start to look bad. best to keep ot small less bulky. updated ===> www.arcadeindex.com
PHP Arcade Script has alot of great features! I will be adding a nice article about the script on Arcade Index
Why not use a php function to detect the size of the game and increase up to that size, but by a ratio for what the game dimensions should be. Most games will look distorted if you upscale them and don't do it right. Think of a picture that is 200x100 normally you would make it 600x300 instead so it looks ok, otherwise it is all bad looking.
