I recently made this website for my mothers art gallery. Not only did I lay down the hard wood floor in the gallery but I went and made a website for her. It is still new and ranks #1 in Google for her name and the business name. I made the page plain looking to enhance the colourful paintings. Let me know what you think. http://www.artforthelord.net
Images take time to load, should change server i suppose. Or reduce some on the main page. The layout is also a bit dodge, but well yea its good and basic as you want. Good Luck!
Wow there are some amazing paintings there, you mum is very talented(all her work ?) One tip (or maybe my connection speed) put the paintings in categories/different pages load time was really slow. Great job on the floor too
Thanks, I agree the page takes some time to load and since it is an image intensive site I had a hard time working with it. I planned on viewers reading the initial text while the images loaded below. The site is hosted with bell which is probably an overloaded server. She has ALOT more work and I plan on expanding the gallery (perhaps with clickable thumbnail gifs). I asked her which paintings she wanted displayed as I cannot put the 60+ that she has on that page. I made it in one day.
Hi, I would first like to appraise the paintings by your mother. All things come after that. Really nice paintings..... For the connection time it was not that slow but the page was redirecting me to a new URL n it was not opened correctly. There were Welcome images but i was not able to see them..
Mate, I think you should work on the layout. Despite your idea of plainness, atleast go for a look that adjusts well to the overall users. I mean something simple but yet clean. That would make the pictures stand out more.
hiya market exprt.. your design is way bland ans you say that its an art-related site. Th logo needs rework and th color scheme and also the overall layout should be changed to look more fitting into what you have catgorized your site in the arts industry.. Probably you can take some good designr's help to get to what you want an online presence
yes luke86 is correct, some images do not load and some images / items are misplaced as well. though i lov the paintings, i didnt love the layout and the bg color.. could hav been much better. Just to make you happy, pls make the layout that should blend with the paintings that you have put on the site. There are so many arts & painting selling sites.. just peep into them and try going into the flow as it always makes a big impact on your design as well as your sellings. Happy??
Firstly, I have to say beautiful pictures! But I think the artwork/logo at the top of the page could use some work to stand out more. Also the sub heading 'virtual gallery' and some of the text around it seems to be in a different font?
The artwork is great but the design of the site could be better you should consider getting a professional template for the site.
the layout and colors are off. the tables in firefox anyways don't line up. the color I think for an atr website should be a little more like an art gallery. just a little constructive criticism. I like the paintings though.

Redesgin your site for improvement and donot put heavy images on home page make them thumbnails so if any body like them that click them to where as their computer become down due to page load.
Good content but I would spend a little money or time on improving the logo and making a good first impression.
