How to make a ''Pay Now'' button that will upload the file after the payment ?

I'm working on a new website to sell my content, but I don't know how to make a ''Pay Now'' PayPal button that will bring the user to PayPal and send him the files he just bought automatically after the payment. Can you help me ?

The easiest way would be to set up a "download page" for your content, then go to your paypal account and set up a button. You can set options for return page. That is where you can enter your download page url for customers to be sent from paypal after they pay you.

 

Using a download page isn't very safe, as people could share the link.
Meaning that some people would not have to pay.

I think you need to use an IPN script.
I could make you an alertpay one, if you wanted.

How does the IPN script work tobydawson13, does it then protect the download page so it can only be viewed after the payment is made?

 

what I have traditionally recieved when purchasing software online is a one-time download link, or a free software download that requires the serial that they emailed me.

1) The customer fills out their details
2) Details are sent to the payment processor e.g. Paypal
3) They pay for the product
4) The payment processor then updates your database, e.g. MySQl
5) If your script has email function enabled, your payment processor can then send them an email with a password to the download page or something along those lines.

If your website has members. You could make the IPN update a members account etc..

 

In PayPal you can specify the return page. If you give the return page an onload script also providing the email address

, it might work.  I have not tested this but do use a static return page with my PayPal payments.

I bought an ASP version of this that I use. It was about $15 at the time. His name is Johnny Kattouf and the site to buy it is here: http://www.kattouf.com/mypaypalprotector
It protects from fraud as well as the auto download feature via email. It makes things a lot easier. Now only if he would cut me in on a percentage for this post.

 

you can find the code for a "buy now" on the paypal website and then you could have the user enter their email and paypal then when you notice that they have paid you email your product

I used https://www.payloadz.com/ in conjunction with paypal. I set it up about 2 years ago, and haven't done a darn thing since. I sell the plans about once every 3-4 weeks. People receive a link to a temporary file. The file stays up for a little while after it is downloaded for the first time, then disappears.
You have to change one of the settings in your paypal account to get it to work.
The system has been reliable and maintenance free.

Downsides:
If you sell stuff past the minimum, they charge you a monthly fee. Even if your sales drop, the fee stays. The fee depends on your monthly sales though. I don't remember how much it was. I've never had to pay any fees.
If someone uses an e-check through paypal, they don't get the download until the check clears. In that case, I just send them an e-mail with an attachment. With a no-cost digital product, I don't see any reason to wait for the check to clear.

If you had higher volume, a script of your own would be better.
I considered using outlook settings to automatically deliver replies with the attachment when I got the standard e-mail from paypal "You have received a payment....." But it requires your computer to be on all the time.
