so i have about 23 links in my home page . . . 15 point pack to the home page with the keyword for the alt which happens to be the domain name. . . 7 point to a different site and the last one points to a different site . . . all these are keywords AND they are all the domain name of those keywords also I HAVE ALOT OF CONTENT on there and the SEO tool i have doesnt seem to even be in orange yet with the links and alt tags i provided. BUT I JUST WANTED TO HEAR WHAT SOME OF YOU HAD TO SAY ?
what do you guys mean: Over 99 is supposed to be ignored by Google ================================== do you mean 99 LINKS ON A PAGE ? ? ? cause that is WAYYY TO MANY . . . i heard 30-50 and then you are pushing it . . . Well let me know PS LEXISEEK . . . your website pricing tool said AOL.com was worth 0 DOLLARS LOL and SOCKS.com was also worth 0 DOLLARS that is when i gave up .
I'm not making it up. Google says it More importantly, though, links on the home page should be used for navigation to important parts of the website. I wouldn't overdo it.
24, 24 is the magic number. Anymore than 24 and Google's algo falls apart and the world switches it's axis and reverses the magnetic poles.
500? It could be too much. But, it might depends, let me tell a real story: There is one of top Chinese Websites just put all the useful links in its homepage, actually there is nothing but links in its home page even now, and get punished by the google to bring its page rank to 0, which was a couple years ago, but get back its page rank pretty soon, since it is useful and helpful to its users, and it showed that it was google who did the wrong punishment. And I just check its Page Rank = 8 now. So I think do not need to worry about the 100 links limit, if your website really useful and helpful for your visitors, i.e. it is user friendly, and they just come to your website even without google, you might show google it did the wrong thing and get your page rank back.
OH THANK GOD sfraise . . . dont know what wouldve happened had i put one more link on there . . . MAJOR global warming effects were about to start to take place
Are you talking about internal linking or the outbound links? In any case, no more than 25-30 should be there.
See the website which I just mention (www.hao123.com), there is nothing but links, and the page rank is 8.
Google stated that you should not have more than 100 links on a single page - although it can process more than that. There are some cases where this isn't possible. I have an affiliate store whose sidebar lists products by brand name, which displays about 75 links alone, coupled with the rest of the links in the header, body and footer. As usual, it's not really a limit placed on webmasters, and Google tends to reward websites based on their usability.
Gee I didn't know that. Although non of my sites is at risk of having anything near that. But useful information, Thanks
I have a site that has over 300 links on the home page used for navigation because the site has several hundred thousand pages (and needs 300 second level pages). It ranks #1 for it's main keyword. As far as I can tell it suffers no ill effects from having so many links.
