Hello Guys, Different backlinks showing google webmaster tool and link:mydomain.com for my site. Why google showing different backlinks??
Link:domainname shows only samples of your links, because Google doesn't want to reveal this data for your competitors .
Google never says anything about what reason and why some links have approved but some not, which I wonder because some links are included even they're your internal domain links.
May be Google show some sample of links or the best Links which were got the more link value, recently approved links. But some time it shows our own internal links also. Google doesn't says anything about this command. Any way if it is not showing the true data, it will be one way of privacy for us. If it shows the True value the competitor can find our back links easily. Take the back link count from the webmaster tools.
trough google webmaster tool can see all the back links. But through link:domain name shows only the current valid BL , may be in th enext update will change the links through it. But exactly don't know what the scenario on it by showing only little BL through the toolbar
It is generally accepted that Google Webmaster Tool does NOT show all backlinks, it remains just a sampling. This can be demonstrated by comparing data with Yahoo Site Explorer which will reveal all backlinks. I suggest you compare the two and see for yourself. You will notice that the number of backlinks in Google will vary over time not just in number but the links themselves, sometimes on a daily basis. Yahoo is much more consistent and a better judge of where you stand.
