I also install and customize WP blogs and have had some good and bad experiences. To those that want to do it for $35 and not get paid until after the work is done... Well good luck and have fun, I have been burned too often to do anything upfront anymore. A $35 fee for the setup and optimization isn't a bad, but you can spent hours upon hours with clients on theme customization.

$100 isn't a bad budget for installing, and tweaking a theme and I would say if you can get a custom theme built for that then go for it but make sure it works properly. Optimizing the blog and help using it after the install is another important aspect not to be over looked. Installing WP isn't that hard at all, knowing what plugins to use and how to optimize it can take a long time for newbies.

 

$35 and paid after service. Sounds like you need a collection agency.

Hey, you have to start somewhere, getting burned is the least of my problems. If I do it, and don't get paid, then I still have a blog I can show off. I agree with the hours and hours and customization and there would be a point where I say 'NO MORE'. But I want to start getting a good rep here and I am willing to be shafted once or twice in the beginning to help achieve that aim.

Your spot on with the optimization, though. A generic WP is sooooo easy to set up, lots of host have one click set-up now as well. But setting it up properly takes time and learning.

But he sounded really interested but then I never heard a peep. 'Such is life' - Do you know who said that just before being hung?

Are you technical enough to try to do this? Believe me, its way too easier than imagine to do the wordpres installed. Check if you have Fantastico in your cpanel. PM me if you need more info and want to save money in customizing your blog.

Installing wordpress on a server with fantastico is as easy as 1 2 3.
If dave74 needs custom theme for the blog then it will cost more than $100, i guess

 

Custom theme will cost your more than $35, setting up is not a big problem, optimizing it also not a big problem.

 

I have got some good looking premium themes at the site listed in my signature. They are simple attractive and you will buy it if you see the live demos. and it costs only around $30 (the best one)
