Has anyone here done big advertising recently? Investing at least a few thousand dollars. Not adwords or anything like that, but using advertising agencies like fastclick, casalemedia or similar.

If so... how much did it cost? What roi did you have? Any tips or suggestions?

    nope, sorry. :(

I've also been wondering about this so I hope someone shares their experiences.

Also, for anyone who has used these (or similar) companies, how many campaigns did you run? Are they consistently sending quality traffic or is it a hit-or-miss thing?

    Pete

    hello,

    i did with

    1. bravenet.com
    2. digg.com
    3. techcrunch.com

i must admit that the newsletter sponsorship at bravenet.com brought amazing results, our service is free but we got only from them 5000 new members in 4 days :)

we will go for www.collegehumor.com now, according to them, under friends list u can get 5000 clicks daily, which is alot

That's not bad at all. How much did the sponsorship cost? Also, do you know how many people subscribe to their newsletter?

id also like to know about some major advertising, i see myspace sites spending about $10k a month while bringin in about $20k a month in revenue, i would like to know where i can spend big money to bring in the traffic needed to cover the costs of the advertising, then again, if people knew about this, they would be doing it themselves (which obviously some are) and might be hesitant to share their secrets, worth a try

I'm starting up with a new shopping engine on HGTV in the upcoming months. Gonna cost $4k/month , just a flat rate no PPC charges right now. Will see how it goes. Thats my biggest single advertising purchase in a very long time.

yeah, well it depends on if your advertising for branding (which would be more large multinational company type advertising) but for us folk running websites and need advertising for traffic, its not easy to find what we are looking for. It is also especially hard when your in high dollar areas, such as my poker forum, it would be so expensive to advertise on any poker site, as people running affiliate links would be happy to pay more money as they would make a nice big return. so i have a hard time trying to find avertising for that, aswell as for myspace sites, i need cheap traffic as im not selling anything.

what sites are you interesting in doing some big budget ads for fryman?

    Hi,

This all depends on what you are advertising and how you want to advertise, so it is impossible to estimate a cost. Also from my experience, after you have found how you want to advertise and how much you think it is going to cost multiply that cost by at least 3, but probably 5 is a better estimate. Also a bit of advice, find out how and where your competition is advertising and how much they are spending (if they are already established), and copy what they do if you can afford it, because there are reasons these companies advertise in the ways they do. You may also be able to pick up some cheep relevant advertising on www.adsbay.co.uk

    Hope some of this helps
