How many keywords on each page?

    Hi all,

How many keywords may I use on each page? May I use 30 different keyword phrases on a single page? May I duplicate a few of the same keywords on multiple pages? I have a few pages which are on the same subject, can I re-use the keywords or does it look spammy?

    Thanks

If you are talking about the keywords meta tag, don't worry too much about it. Just avoid anything spammy in that tag and you will be fine. Most search engines don't use this tag for ranking websites anymore.

Avoid repeating the same keyword in one tag. You can use the same keyword on a different page, but I would still try to ensure each page has a unique keywords tag. 30 keywords on one page would be fine. Some people suggest keeping it to 10 or less, but I've never had a problem using 20+.

ok, thanks a lot. I'm running wordpress so each page has keywords entries which would correspond to the meta I believe.

If Meta is not being used much these days, should keywords be targeted in the content of all webpages instead?. Is this the general rule of thumb when optimizing for specific keywords?

    Thanks

I normally use between 10 and 20. You can link between pages and change your keywords if you wanted.

For wordpress the home page might have 20+ keywords without a problem but suggested 10+ . in the single post page always see that there is a density of 1-3% in the content so it will not look spammy:)

I always advice people to target 4-5 keywords per page anymore than this and it will weaken your keywords strength too much that it would take you years to rank for easily rankable keywords.

break down your keywords into groups of related keywords which has same meanings. Use 1 group per page.

as per my view you should have arround 5 to 10 keywords in one page not more than that... what i believe, it may be spammy if you put 30 or more keywords in a page as you said. also try to include atleast 2 out of 5 keywords in title or heading section that will help you more.
