Backup all of your files including databases from your Godaddy account and don't cancel with them until you have tested everything out and are sure you are all done with them.

Godaddy is only good for buying domains, While hostgator right now is only good for small sites.

If your site doesnt use huge amount of resources, you can be on hostgator, if not then you are sure to get kicked off before you start somewhere. You might need VPS for that host ig your site is huge.

If you want i can arrange hosting for you and moving of the site would be also done for you if you want. PM me if interested. :D

Can you please let us know how much traffic did you use last month? Also, how much hard disk?
Because if it's too high, HostGator may kick you out.

I have some small websites with affiliate products and i'm ready to run an application that will make hundreds of cURL sessions. For this application i'm planning to buy an apart hosting account.

I don't think HostGator will support such application on its Shared plans - although I think the affiliate products websites will be fine there.

For that app you will need to get a VPS, you can find one starting at $5/month so it's not a big deal.

I suppose that you should not look or even go with cheaper solution. If you need to have no headache with new host do not concentrate on the budget only and you will get what you need.
    Good luck with your search

I recommend you to check GetAVPS.com out. They are from Virpus and the service is truly great.
The $5 thing is usually only on promotions - however these are so(!) small that nearly nothing can run on them.
