Can you call her "Alfred(a)" and for her first task,
tell her to redesign the foundations of the east wing of your new house? :)

I sort of had a personal assistant once. It was awesome :). It's nice to have the same person clean your house, run your errands, do all the menial work stuff, etc. Perhaps I'll have to borrow your PA, Shawn ;)...

Funny - I have the same exact problems (mailbox, lunch, carwashing). I used to have a guy come to the house and clean the cars but it just got too expensive and the guy wasn't very reliable.

My problems surrounding getting a personal assistant were - where do they work? Out of their house and come over when I need it? That just doesn't seem like a good work situation. How much would I spend vs. how much quality do I need? How do I come up with a task list that would keep the asst. occupied on a day to day basis? It seems like I need a personal assistant to help me a) figure out a way to justify the cost. and b) figure out all the things that I'm not doing because I don't have an assistant.

I'm curious what the salary is that your paying and the # of hours you are putting your assistant to work. I always figured a personal assistant wouldn't want to do things like dishes etc. - but if I could get the right person, maybe I could lose the maid and the dog-washer.

As long as you lay it out ahead of time, a personal assistant should do anything you tell them to do whether it's walk the dog, answer the phone, do the dishes, go to the bank, grocery shopping, etc. etc. etc.

Personal assistants make about $20 an hour from what I've been told ( by an employee that used to be a personal assistant before the crazy lady she worked for flipped out :D ).

Get a mail order bride. Tell her to do everything then ship her back when the lease ends.

I don't think it's as easy of a job as you might think. :)

Basically it's someone that is willing to do whatever you want any time of the day/night.

Not only that, a good PA will travel with you (for work, vacation, etc.)...

I would hate to be one myself. :)

What I would hate is having a personal assistant... heck, I am glad I'm not famous and don't have to deal with bodyguards and similar. I love my privacy and having someone following me around all the time would drive me crazy

That's kinda scarry, having an assistant so close to you, nothing will remain a secret.
