Dot.tk Domain Names

    About 2-3 yrs ago this web site dot.tk came into operation to provide links redirection service for free and premium basis.

    It was a good news for us people who design webs for fun but not for commercial purposes.

    So we created certain blogs, forums based on dot.tk domain names.

    But with the passage of time some of these blogs & forums become very popular among net users, so that rankings of those sites goes high.

    As a result we got global alexa ranks like 700,000 500,000 recently.

    But suddenly someone in dot.tk has transferred/sold our domain names to some third party advertisers. Now those domain names are no more with us.

    www.balukiri.tk www.amba.tk

    Luckily we had a database of our members, so that we communicated our new domain name with immediate effect.

    Anyway my advice is that if you are also a person who design webs for fun, never go for dot.tk domain names pls go for some other domain name either co.cc, co.nr, us.tc.

    Or else just pay couple of bux & buy your own domain name.

    That is quite scary, I remembered using them quite sometime ago. The Free domains are suppose to be yours if you maintain a number of visitors per month if I remembered correctly. Can they just take that away from you? I would suggest getting your own domain to be safe, subdomains are still not yours legally and domains are getting so cheap that it is better to get one and ensure that your web site and your hardwork does not go to waste.

    If you want do develop a web seriously (although not for business), pick your own name, at least .info. Its cheap. :)

    us.tc is not good , it's only "parked" on freedns.afraid.org ( people can create free subdomains ) untill someone will buy it.

    Funny enough, I just got about 300 emails saying my domains didnt get enough traffic, although most of them are getting 500 uniques per week. Now when you click on the links it goes to a parked page at Sedo and are listed for sale.

    Apparently their stupid business model FAILED, now they are trying to get some quick cash by selling the popular domain names.

    Well the WHOIS was not in my name, I was just waiting for a good time to register the domains so I kept them with a good flow of traffic trusting they would keep their word and let me keep them for free. But I guess they are in business like any of us.

    That's a good advice you are giving to others
    register co.cc, co.nr, us.tc, etc ... you must be mad to do that :) it's my opinion, nothing personal ;
