How has the economy effected you then in the webmaster aspect and overall to everyone in the webmaster world?

I have just turned back to it after a break, I am wandering how things are changing!

I'm seeing a huge effect compared to previous years. I'm actually planning on getting out of the business and this economy is just a huge nail in the coffin, as far as I'm concerned.

It depends on what you're selling and how you can compete. I'm sure there are some folks out there that are doing pretty well still.

Mine is always up and down. I do not think the recent events have changed much. there is more problems coming from low ballers who are working for pennies than from economic factors.

Whether it is a downturn or a boom, there are still business to be made, deals to be done. It depends on how flexible the nature of your business is. Webmasters have the additional benefit of flexibility and not encumbered by inventories etc. Recent downtime will affect webmasters, but I guess as always, those who can adapt will survive and thrive.

    Very good advice.

I would only add that you should now more concentrate on people's needs instead of their wants. Wants have been most profitable but needs are most sustainable.

it affects everyone. The media is responsible for all of this. I know people who have solid jobs with no chance of being fired, and they are still freaking out!.. I wish that people relax and just enjoy one day at a time.

BS, too much spending by people who couldn't afford it is responsible for all of this.

The increased cost/conversion has nothing to do with adwords cpc, it's because people are spending less money.

I haven't been noticing any downturn in business, in fact things have been growing steadily. Perhaps it's because I'm in Canada....

It depends on what is being sold. If it's a luxury or indulgence item then I could see people not buying, but things that are needed or just an incredible deal, then they'll probably do quite well now.

The stuff I sell is more of an indulgence item, so are suffering a bit.

I know my manufacturers are really, really suffering as most of the resellers have really cut back their orders. I can imagine a few of them going under.
