Questions I get Asked as a Black Person

I'm black and proud of it. I have a lot of white friends who seem to have a misconception about black people.

    1. Why do your skin change colors in after a shower or bath?
A: It doesn't, it is just ashy (extreme dry skin, if you will) and need lotion.

    2. Why do you put hot sauce on everything?
    A. Not everyone do, but most have grown accustomed to spicy food, like Mexican food to Mexicans, etc.

    3. Do you think we're ready for a black president?
    A. Are we ready for another white one? (no prejudice intended, just mock stupid question)

    4. Why are you guys so flashy?
    A. We like bling, and that's what happens when you finally get the material things that you've always desired.

If you have any more questions, let me know!;)

I don't know where the watermelon thing comes from, do you? I'd have to look up the history on that. I don't know that many black people who eat watermelon all that much.

I do love fried chicken. In fact, most black people I know eat most foods fried. I guess its part of the culture. I know many white people who eat bland pasta too. Different cultures, I guess

I notice the pasta thing too, but I'm white and love fried chicken, watermelon, cornbread KOOLAID (purple drink)- everything blacks are stereotypically said to eat.

Don't know about the history of the stereotype, but I'd be interested in hearing. I figured it was a southern culture thing.

I like Grape juice- but then again I like all juice. I don't drink kool-aid. Most black people I know don't drink koolaid, they drink soda pop, tea, or juice. I personally love apple juice.

Yes, we like to eat cornbread. I know some people who eat it a lot, but I only eat it with certain foods. I'm not much of a bread eater.

:rolleyes:I don't think they even use white ink period. ha ha However, I've never seen a tattoo on a very dark person. I don't personally like tattoos, so I've never paid much attention to them.

How often do you think about your skin colour? Is it something you are constantly aware of in society?

No, I never think about color, at least not in relation to white people. But, society seems to put soo much emphasis on color. Like Obama being the first black president. If he was McCain, would it matter that he was white?
It don't matter. Thats what I'm saying.

I don't even know what the NAACP stand for. Wait, let me do some research....ok, it stands for National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

People don't really use the word colored. At least no one has ever said the word to my face, so I think it should be the advancement of african american people.

How do you feel if someone used the word nigger? If they were black, white, asian.

    Is there a difference?

I'm not from the U.S. So, pardon me if it's not an astute observation. Every other black guy shown in movies/sitcoms is shown as someone who digs gangsta rap big time. Is it true or is it just a stereotypical portrayal?
