Pretty sure the guy in charge of that administration the last 8 years was a Texan too, and you can't hold him responsible for what the administration for the 8 years prior to his election MAY have thought.

Are you suggesting your personal opinion of his thoughts is somehow the definitive version? His opinions are a helluvalot more likely to coincide with mine than with those you suspect he might hold.

Thrax - Read the requirements of this forum. Then if you have something to say that addresses my remarks, go for it.

All I did was point out that you have unilaterally decided your opinion of what others think is the definitive version, and this of course is not the case.

He's barely capable of repeating others insults, let alone coming up with an original though.

I guess they read too much of George Orwell's 1984

    Peace is War
    Freedom is Slavery
    Ignorance is Strength

That's why Bush qualified for the Medal

Any news on any company or think tank planning to hire G-Dubya as a consultant after he leaves office?

Just wondering what his job will be post-presidency. That's usually when former presidents fall back on their real talents. This ought to be good. :p

IMHO the title of this award is dramatically misrepresentative of the reason for the award. The reason is for Bush's actions on Aids assistance in Africa. Yet the title, International Medal of Peace, is absurd, (again IMHO) in the context of the War in Iraq.

The awarding of this medal reminds me of the period when Bush provided the Medal of Freedom to Paul Bremer, George Tenet, and Tommy Franks, in their efforts with regard to Iraq. It was dramatically political.

I've been reading one of Bob Woodward's books on Bush and the war efforts, State of Denial. It depresses me as one reviews the actions of the administration....many of which may well have led to the escalating violence that occurred in Iraq over time.

Tenet was a mixed bag. He basically told Bush, the Intelligence on WMD was a slam dunk, when it wasn't there. On the other hand, according to the book and numerous interviews, he made a dramatic effort to warn Condi Rice and the White House about Al queda in July of 2001, only to see no action on it.

Bremer made fateful decisions, dramatically opposite to what the best studied and planned advice with regard to rebuilding Iraq, when he took over. His decisions may well have spurred the size and scope of the insurrection that grew from 2003 to 2007.

Yet they were awarded Medal of Freedom awards.

Similarly Bush receives this award with the very dubious title in light of his actions in Iraq.

They had a lot of opportunities to give the award a lot of different names. Its a political game and not representative of his overall actions, again IMHO.

I somehow feel that the Medal was given in a sarcastic manner rather than having the real intentions to honor Bush.

I would imagine in the area of national security. He's about the only president I can remember in modern times that has kept our nation free from attack consistently and constantly for nearly 8 consecutive years.

We used to have attacks near daily with the previous administration.

That would be correct, but do the math on that. How long was he in office?

Previous to Bush our foreign policy was to react only in a defensive manor. Bush policy moved us to a proactive, offensive foreign policy that does not weight for the crap to reign down on us before we do something about it.

    Nice point!

I beg to differ on this aspect. Looking at the current situation, there may be no attacks on American soil but there are daily attacks on American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Bush merely moved the ground of attacks from USA homeland to the enemies' homeland.

George Bush was a retard! If you disagree simply Search George Bush on you tube and start to learn!

there's no other way to say it and no it can't be said nicely!

    He's a lot like Canada's Stephan Harper

but at least in Canada if you don't like the man leading the country you can boot him out with the right phone calls and support!
