It was the largest. Are you going to dispute that?

And, yes, you did lose against the Vietnamese, the Koreans and the Japanese. In fact, all of these countries made you look embarrassingly foolish. You had to commit the worst atrocities in human history - drop atom bombs - to save your desperate country from annihilation.

Actually, our GDP is the fifth largest on the planet, and our "small" army kicks butt! Not bad for a country of 60 million. Compared to your population, we're far more powerful.

And what's this nonsense about a third world country? I'm assuming that you don't know what that means, which is why you used it. We were the first country to industrialise. How could we become a third world country?

That was a war for you, not for us. Don't forget that you were nothing then, and we were a great empire. Both that and the War of 1812 were considered sideshows by the Brits, at the time busy with taking over and controlling the world. Plus, you were Brits then. I doubt the British were really going to go all out to annihilate their own people.

You said that you're glad you became a larger nation. First of all, your country itself is an offshoot of Britain. Don't forget that. To discredit the UK is to discredit your own history. What's more, if you think about how you grew, it really wasn't that spectacular. You simply filled the void left by the demise of the British Empire.

While this argument will probably never be settled, I think that while the Indian Army is becoming more well respected, that they can't possibly match the US Army - not even close.

You sort of make the assumption that the US Army isn't able to operate in any kind of terrain....well, correct me if I'm wrong, but America has fought on every imaginable kind of terrain in the world in the past 100 years, but has India? No.

America can rapidly deploy Army units anywhere in the world in a matter of hours with a force large enough to engage in ground warfare. India, with all due respect, just doesn't have the recent battle experience and logistics capabilities that the US has.

Again, this is a hard list to assemble, but let's be honest in saying that America probably top them all.

Put the description for them too..... F-22 cannot be matched by any known or projected fighter aircraft. and here's what other country think Chief of the Australian Defence Force, said in 2004 that the "F-22 will be the most outstanding fighter plane ever built."[5] USA Rock.

Countries can build all the jets they want, the real test comes when they can produce the fighters who can actually fly these jets.

Actually those aren't U.S. special forces troops. Though technically they are from specialized warfare units (as most U.S. Army infantry divisions are).

The top pic is the 101st Airborne (AIR ASSAULT) division.

The bottom is the 10th Mountain division.

History stands testimony to the fact that the use of superior technology always provides a strategic and competitive advantage. The best built jets will be the ones which an average person can fly with not much difficulty or risk.

The Israeli Air Force should be in top 5 air forces. IMO second place after USA. On every plane that Israel lost, the Arabs lost 10.
I think if considering all factors, USA has the most powerful army power.

Some of you patriotic Indians REALLY need to wake up - NO WAY are you the top army, or a superpower. WAKE UP!

Why are some of the Indians so over-patriotic?

    Anyway, back on topic.

The US has one of (if not the) best army's. The UK ranks pretty high too. The EU would be number 1, if it was to start a war on some country, but that aint gonna happen - the EU is too busy making laws on fruit sizes.

i think countries like India & China might be in the reckoning by the next century... but for now this debate doesn`t make sense atleast, for the topmost position. also, i feel Russia is a clear cut number 2.

imo, the real debate & more meaningful would be one for the 3rd spot...

FFS - its as if the patriotic folks have taken over

You are NOT going to rule in the next 100 years, and I doubt you EVER will. Have a look at most of the Indians who posted in this thread - what do they say? India is the best. Now look at the British / American - they are presenting FACTS.

FACTS are more important than your opinion.

Yes - they may be powers of ASIA, but not the world (especially India)

India is developing in one way, but still fails in government. Bribes, etc still go on. That isnt how a 'superpower' is run.

    Sure, whatever.

So you've noticed the patriotic people too?
