Bowling Tips For Beginners

Bowling is a wonderful sport played indoors at basically any time of year. Many people enjoy going to a bowling alley and throwing a ball around. As a beginner there are many bowling tips you may need to know however. As in most sports, there are rules, proper etiquette as well as proper stance bowling tips.

When planning to begin bowling you may wish to first know the lingo of the game. Bowling lingo can be stuff like "putting a spin on the ball," "aim for the pocket" and "avoid the gutter." Knowing what these things mean can help you feel comfortable and improve your game.

For example, putting a spin on your ball is what allows the ball to curve. This requires a specific motion of your wrist which can take some time to perfect.

Likewise, knowing where the "pocket" is can be very helpful to your game. The pocket is the perfect place to aim in order to get a strike. For players who are right handed, it is best to aim between the 1 and 3 pin. As a left handed player you should aim for the spot between the 1 and 2 pin. (Most bowling alleys have computer screens which can show you which pins these are if you don't know.)

The most important thing to know as far as bowling etiquette is not to bowl at the same time as the person next to you as it can be highly distracting or even dangerous. If one of you are not good bowlers, being next to someone who bowls improperly can hurt you. So always wait until the person beside you has completed their shot.

Completing the shot does not necessarily mean waiting until the ball has hit the pins. In bowling, completing the shot refers to a player swinging their ball back and properly releasing. By following your motions forward, you complete the shot.
