Maybe he's just got a great idea for a new project and needs the start-up funds... Anyways, I've liked mikey's posts and I'm willing to bet this is no QBC thing... On the other hand, if more and more directory owners start selling their sites off, it will probably be bad for the whole market...
wow this thread is moving fast. Seems like just yesterday in another thread mikey was so insistent that he is developing zorg links for the long haul, and will stick by it.
It’s up to the buyer to do the appropriate checks before buying however I do feel that something as big as the site being penalized should be posted to inform would be bidders. It does not look good if Mikey didn’t post the facts, lets hope he posts here to clear this matter up. After hearing repeatedly that Zorg was not going to be sold I must say I’m shocked also. Thanks Brian
I don't know Mikey, but unfortunately for him he is somewhat like the poster child for the web directory crash as his recent entry into the fray and very heavy investment was well publicized and known. I never like to see an entrepreneur lose and a lot of them are now losing because of Google's decision to crack down on paid for "popularity". It was inevitable. A lot of directories will vanish without a trace. Many others will become like cyber ghost towns. Some will evolve, survive, and even thrive. I hope most of my fellow directory owners can survive and thrive as netpreneurs with or without their directories. As they launch new sites and businesses I, for one, will do whatever I can to support their efforts. Internet marketing is STILL big and growing bigger. Whose going to successfully make the transition from "SEO friendly" to "advertiser friendly"?
Although i own four directories myself I never really pay much attention to what others are up to.Wow i was shocked to see the top bids on his directory .
This really isn't surprising news. It seems a bunch of people are looking for a way out of the directory business now. Just look at the Buy and Sell forum here. QBC directories are selling like hotcakes. Anyway, hopefully the Zorg links guy can find someone willing to take a chance on his site.
I always wondered why the high bidders also show the directory where they have high bids on in their top 10's. Never really made sense to me or understand why it works this way.
You must have taken this decision after thinking it deserves. Good Luck with sale. Let see if label of $50k is right or not.
I wouldn't call him QBC, but to flip a website for profit.. give it six months atleast.. or with directories, give it time till all this Google crap dies down :\ Really bad timing to decide to sell up!
Maybe google has paid Mikey to offer his up for sale (im just kidding by the way) to get the ball rolling, then the rest of you follow suit (like lemmings ) and before you know it, their work is done, directory owners putting themselves outta business and google stays neutral "what, we didn't say a word, those directory owners just quit" This isn't the wall street crash Before i started my directories, i think in april, i have seen some pretty bizarre things happen with serps and stuff for about 2 years while running other sites, nothing to do with directories, at that time i hardly used these forums and so didn't freak out and take any notice and things would just level out. Over and over again i read that this is not unusual behaviour, unless a press release is officially issued from google then how can people be so influenced to overeact as much as this. Step outside planet "Directory box" for a moment and see what is happening elsewhere. I heard Matt Cutts was a weekend Tranny did you hear that too? see how long that takes to spread.
I cannot believe it. anyways good luck. I am also trying to sell my one directory index2010.com Wish him all the best.
I think Mikey is selling zorg-links because he's working on some major project. Just read his thread on phplinkdirectory forum http://www.phplinkdirectory.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17806 Good luck with the sale Mikey
