Let's get one thing straight - you've picked up a name for yourself here for passing the buck as soon as the shit hits the fan with your bid directories - all of them have 'shady' PR's (ie. you bought dropped domains, or bought PR's with high PR) - see archive.org if you're lost for answers.

Only last week did we have someone here saying 'where did my directory go?' (lionsanime) after you sold him a dead horse - banned from Google's index.

    QBC, indeed.

Check the backlinks mate. You fool. Ain't got a single 'paid' backlink - unlike all yours. And I bought the domain and built it up, spent a lot of time with it (more than 7 months now) - and the bids placed reflect the hard work put in.

No, not promoting. It's called buying links to gain PR = to sell it on, then ultimately sell the directory to some unsuspecting person and make them look the fool.

    apricot2008.net PR is FAKE
the guy bought a high PR dropped domain and the PR will be lost at the next update

You can either buy a domain name that had a real high PR, then just get the domain name and stick a directory on it and then it looks like you got a PR7, but when the next PR update comes, it'll be down to a zero.

Its clever, sneaky, and downright frowned upon.

It does not matter.Selling links is against Google Rules too so go ahead and remove all the links from your site.

That Directory is really PR7 but that PR may not be accurate, i don't think that domain was being used as a directory before the last ToolBar update so you might expect a heavy drop in PR on the next update.

I checked your backlinks. You bought an expired domain. The "Apricot 2008" website used to be an event website.

Some of the backlinks come from pages like "https://events.apricot.net/cgi-bin/registration.pl?event_id=8" which are long gone, as the content of the website changed to a directory website.

All of the links are from pages such as ISOC and are clearly pointing to the old content on the website.

On the first PR update, this directory will crater badly.

Furthermore, "Apricot Yearname" is a yearly internet event, where they apparently drop the website each year after the event is over. Here's a review of "Apricot 2007."

Further, here's a description of the Apricot 2008 event

This year's meeting was held in Taipei.

So this is your idea of "Real PR"?

It seems that most of you think that a PR 'update' will clean out these bogus sites. Common sense tells me the same. But I know of plenty 'faked' PRs that have been that way for many months. (csspal.com for six months at least.)

So either A, these 'updates' don't happen as often as I think they would (or should) and / or B, not every update is complete, and misses some of them.

Either way, shame on Google for allowing (helping actually) this to happen.

How they manage to get that high PR? I think they just mislead the webmasters.
