    You can either use software for both or do it manuall. For facebook, send as many friend requests as possible and twitter follow friends of friends on your timeline, most of them will follow back.

    I think the following points will help you to increase your friends in Facebook -
    1. create a FB page
    2. on your site, put FB logo with some title like LIKE/JOIN us on FB
    3. Post regular updates & your products/services to FB page
    4. Respond to people comments, pictures & videos on FB
    5. Encourage people to LIKE your FB page so you can have better traffic via regular updates
