So when giving reputation, means 1 point, or depends on the reputation of the member giving it?

Not really sure but it's not based on the current reputation of the member you're about to give it to. I don't know how it accumulates and how it gives out the amount of points it gives. All I know is that it's always -1 for giving a bad rep.

 

I had all 11 of them... then the rep-rules changed.. all my GC and UG reps were reduced :'(

I never knew there was a change in the rep rules and it's quite scary to lose hard earned reps. Well I only have one and would not like it to become a shiny red one *hides*

 

You should've seen what happened when Shawn implemented the very first Rep rules change. That was pretty funny. There never used to be any cost giving red rep (now it's 1 point) but as usual, the system was being abused so it was changed to the cost-for-red system but it was done retroactively so there was much hilarity when some folks with large swathes of green blobs suddenly dropped into the red themselves because they'd been dishing out so much red rep.

lol. But that's not necessarily what happened. There was a retroactive reduction in points when rep received in General Chat forums was reduced to a tenth of what it was previously. So if someone had gained all their rep in GC they were left with a tenth of the points.

That's why today when someone gets rep in GC it is only worth 1 point (if the rep-giver has sufficient rep-power) but if that same rep were on another forum, e.g. the php forum, it would be worth 10 points.

 

Ahh. everything is clear now again, thanks. Well I also thought that you wouldn't gain the same amount of reps here in GC because most of the posts here weight less than the ones on other forums.

No, they haven't. Maybe since you've been here but they didn't used to have a -1.

I don't think it's that long. Well you should post in other areas and less posts in GC. If people finds it useful then they'll give reps which are higher than the reps you can get here or in the UG.
