    .

Yes. Which is why I said so as well.

There is no doubt that any methodology can be skewed by improper sampling, which is why I indicated the above caveat - we must presume proper randomization. However, this is why a given confidence interval is posted: "+/-3%". Assuming the 1000 participants were selected by proper randomization, we have a decent confidence level that the sample represents the total population.

At some point, we either accept the utility of sample statistics - with a given possibility for error - or toss out sample statistics altogether. It would then be impossible to do anything, as no one has the means to pursue population polling.

You are giving him credit for maintaining the business cycle but he has done nothing to tackle the huge fiscal problems the country is about to face. He barks on about cutting taxes while the government builds up a $10trillion debt without any plan to tackle it.

Where do you think inflation is going to be when these long term problems start kicking in?

You reckon he did a good job 'recovering' from 9/11? Didn't he accidently invade a country and pretend it was something to do with 9/11.

I can't believe he still has the nerve to use 9/11 to justify his idiotic policies, like he did in his 'speech' yesterday.

At least we are on the same wave length. :)

I personally don't put much weight on them. Too much bias in the networks/media these days to take them too seriously. Optimist if you will. ;)

I'd rather not argue about this. If you remember, Ben Bernancke was chosen by President Bush and has done a great job so far.

Yes, I give credit to President Bush for keeping and maintaining the economic situation. Huge Fiscal Problems? The US will always be in debt. The debt is so large it would be outrageous to believe a president could even come close to eliminating it. There are a lot more important things to worry about right now than the ridiculous task of eliminating debt that isn't possible.

President Bush did an excellent job after 9/11.

I guess bringing a tyrant to justice is idiocracy. Well, we see things differently. But, that's fine.

I voted "great president" I sure can't say he's the greatest, but any president that can piss off the left leaning lunatics (my friend Northpointaiki exclused) and actually give them cause to start supporting (not that some didn't already) terrorists, is a good president. Says he's doing the right thing. Left leaning lunatics love groups and causes who are bent on the destruction of the US, so naturally they are against a president who takes them on.

Will the next president be terrorist friendly?

if you watched the state of the union Bush has a plan to wash away national debt. I don't Shoe meant "greatest", Lincoln, Jefferson, Jackson, FDR...
But Bush certainly has his place in US history, and I would be proud to tell my grandchildren, that I remember him in office.

No, that's fine - we can debate that; just saying that if the presumption of randomization is made, and the methodology statistically sound, it is what it is, a reflection of the population with certain admitted margins of error in place; we would need to see the sampling methodology from Fox, CNN, Washington Post, etc., before we could know. And I'm guessing we're on the same page here as well.:)

Left skewed, yes, but lunatic, no! You're the most rationale and reasonable liberal I've come across. You and Rick are by far the most thought-provoking posters here. I always enjoy your posts and they sometimes force me to think outside the box, in a good way :)
