Spot on banless, traffic is vanity, conversion is sanity, I just gave someone on that directory 6 hits in about as many seconds, I never went and paid for a listing though, nor did I click on the adsense for the sake if it.

Too many people are 'bigging up' aviva when its still very much a tiny directory, its way to early to call it or many others the next best thing since sliced bread.

The one realistic thing it has going for it is that they don't appear to be afraid to spend a few bucks on advertising and that should stand them in good stead in the long term which is when people will be able to judge it better.

Good luck though Aviva, respect to the hard work you put in.

Out of sheer curiosity, what in your words/thoughts will and/or is the next best thing on the rise?

I will give you an honest answer. Directories will not get you much traffic. Unless some of it's pages appear on serps, which is very rare these days.
I have two sites listed probably in every single quality directory there is. I've just checked my stats: No more than 1 click on any of those, so far in February.
There might be some niche directories that provide traffic, but generally you won't get much traffic. You will get a quality link, which could improve your rankings, but don't expect too much traffic from directories.
Regardless, I would recommend you to submit to Aviva. It's a quality directory and I have several sites listed there.

This is what they say Quality PR Backlink from Aviva. PR4 Backlink.

No offence meant just asking. Why is it your featured price in your directory is higher than Aviva what's there to offer. http://www.cantufind.com/directory/submit.php

As I've said please do not take this as a negative comment as I find your site a quality one and many of us here look for sites that have quality and buy links.

there are few directories that drive traffic to the listings and aviva and alive are among the top list. These directories are highly promoted and definitely worth the submission fee.

If you want traffic to your site then buy some banner ads on the Seattle Times or Wall Street Journal, other than that, just submit your site to aviva and the other quality directories out there, and do not forget the one in my sig, it is more than worth the price.

How much SERP benefit can you expect from links on sites that don't rank for anything themselves? Google hardly ranks directories anywhere since they have no real content, so why are they going to count these links as so beneficial?

Aviva is really classed as one of those directories you ideally have a listing in. I have personally found that i get more hits from Aviva than any other directory at that level. Jeff has also done a great job of making Aviva more than just a directory so theres a higher potential for more quality related traffic due to the articles, templates and other features offered on his site.

As with any website content is a major consideration and Jeff has now given visitors a reason to return to his site because of the quality and frequency of content. His list of strong directories alone (im sure) brings in a good amount of traffic - quite simply just being a directory isn't good enough any more (in my view).

If Aviva is a "bomb" how does it come it cannot be found on search engines at least on the first 2 pages?

For example, i tried a search for "web directory" in Google, Yahoo and MSN but no results for aviva :) I think DP is the only place where aviva has good rankings :) Or is there a team paid by aviva and alive to promote them on DP?

This might actually be an understatement. You must bring something different to the table these days or you will risk blending in.

    Hello....

Well let me first start this by saying that AVIVA is in my view a really well
constructed directory with a classic design and template and my regards well
    worth the price of admission.

As for Traffic you have surfers everywhere that will go threw any listing and look,
the difference is in your Quality Descriptions
as to attract the Clicks in the First place.

Im sure you under stand me Creative Genies

    thx
    malcolm
