I wasn't aware that 28% of my traffic was wasted in the last 3 months that I was using an theme that is not compatible with IE7... Or maybe, my customization was poor and I was so damned not to check the result.. I am following closely my daily stat at google but I did never checked data on browsers. I wasn't aware that the theme (prosense) that I was using for 3 months was broken in all IE versions after I customized the header. After a friend of mine told me that he cannot see my page, I checked it and found out how ugly it was... I spent more than 5 hours of doing some trial and errors on themes for Myseoblog, net and I tested more than ten themes, only 2 have passed IE. I think 100% of webdesigners uses FF that's why most themes are compatible only with FF. The following was my google analytics data before I change the previous theme with the current and final theme. The following is yesterday's data after changing the theme... Look at the change in bounce traffic and the time the visitors stay on my site... The percentage has skyrocketed and the number of time they stay... I was so dumb to miss this... now check sites if they are compatible with all browsers or else you gonna waste your traffic..
Yes, that's true.. and after I changed my theme and made my site visible with IE, I even increased my adsense revenue ...
Good thread. Personally, I use FireFox but I always check my designs with IE once completed, and if they don't work I can nearly always tweak them so that they look the same in FF and IE.
I have tried my website on both IE and FF but havent checked it yet on lower versions of the two...I also check it using opera...just the lower versions
It is important that we keep a tab on the number of visits, bounce rate and avg time on site. If you find that a particular page is having more bounce rate then maybe there is a problem with the page. The page may be taking a long time to load or the users are not finding the content they are looking for. We can rectify the problems of the page and check if the keywords are apt.
Two tips - check how your site design looks in different browsers by using something like browsershots.org. Also use a heat map like crazyegg to see how users behave when they are on your site.
Thanks for all the inputs.. I am not a legitimate designer and do only some simple modifications to my own sites so I am not aware of these things..
