Hi Guys. I have got a three-word keyword phrase(###) and it gets 18K searches per month according to Google Keywords Tool. 1. I want to assess the competition for this phrase. Should I search for in google with quotes or without quotes? Without quotes: 430,000 results With quotes: 160,000 results The top ten websites are same in both cases and have low PR and around 1K yahoo links. 2. If I have to use the intitle and inanchor function, should I use quotes around my keyword phrase or not? Thanks.
1. Inorder to get the competition for the keywords its better to use the keywords in G without quotes. 2.For using intitle or inanchor use quotes as they provide only the results with keywords given within quotes. The number of competitors also differs in this case...
Also try allintitle:your keyword & allinurl:your keyword This wud give you proper idea. Just look what you get after that i wud tell you it's beatable or not.............................
Also check out with Google insights, it would be additional tools to "compare search volume patterns across specific regions, categories, and time frames"
To find exact competition it is good to use quotes, but to know how many pages return with that phrase don't use quotes.
allintitle: my keyword__15K results allinanchor: my keyword__55K results allinanchor+allintitle___NO RESULTS
I also take into consideration the level of PPC/Adwords competition for a particular keyword. Theory goes that if a lot of people are willing to pay real money to generate traffic for a keyword, then it could be considered more competitive. It shouldn't be used as a deciding factor - all depends on who is appearing in the PPC results - but is a modifier to assessing competition.
