Actually, I've been seeing # of IBL in MSN fluctuating. With Google and Yahoo, the number stays the same between updates; the interval is like 1 month and 3 months respectively. With MSN, I've seen the number changing in less than a month period.

Maybe it's just going to be a quirk of MSN Search, like Google not reportng all backlinks :(

There is a certain difference between Google and MSN. Google seems to index all pages that exist on the web, as long as they are reachable (over time). MSN's index seems to have a limited size, so MSN may not have indexed pages that link to your website simply.

Yes MSN's index is definitely smaller than Google's at the present time. For instance I have an old Geocities site that recieves great traffic but MSN has not picked it up yet, probably because it is counted as pages within the Geocities domain.

The backlinks for my site went from 318 and slowly fell to 87. But the last few days they have have started to recover. I have also noticed that MSN has stopped showing all backlinks, just like google.

I think they filtering BL's now. Used to have around 150 for new site, now down to 34 but they are all unique.

MSN was adding new links is less than 24 hours at one point. I don't see that happening any more. Actually, my numbers are not gowing up at all.
