Hello, Somebody needs a professional appraisal for a certain domain I own. He writes: " I need an appraisal certificate for domain priced in your range. Domain name is an investment for me. I'm going to sell your name later and make a profit. If I overpay I won't be able to make a profit in the future. So I need to know the current market value of your name. I guess your are also interested in getting this figure. Without professional appraisal it's impossible to set a right price." Where can I get it a professional appraisal under 20$?
How does he know it's "priced in your range" if he doesn't know what it's worth? That whole message just seems weird. I don't know of a way to "appraise" a domain name. I would guess it's just worth whatever someone is willing to pay.
I have found something about this person: http://www.sedo.com/forum/?task=showthread&thread=1143&tmp=&language=us&partnerid=14236&tracked=1 for example: Extremely persistent on obtaining a “reputable appraisal†from AllForDomains.com, not from anyone else. Sent me a link to a forum (his own?) that he “bought this domain and that domain and that AllForDomains is the best...†Beware, AllForDomains.com has an extremely poor reputation throughout dnforum.com. Do a search. i.e. http://www.dnforum.com/showthread.php?t=13896&highlight=allfordomains
I think that more people should know about this form of sale. He tried cheat me in a very sneaky way. He gave me a links to the forums like this: "Earlier I had a bad experience with www.Afternic.com. I also found the following information about Afternic in the forum http://forum.icann.org/nsi2001/3AC75D7900000305.html" and " I never heard about Sell-My.com and their appraisal is not acceptable. I don't trust companies with "-" in their domains. It means they cannot afford to buy a good name. I will only accept appraisals from companies I trust. I asked about reputable appraisal companies in a forum http://domaintalk.ourplace.com/Archive/13477.htm They recommended FastDomainSales.com. I did not hear about them before but looks like they provide an accurate service." and " Please note that we don't trust free or cheap appraisals. So we cannot accept appraisal from each and every site. I asked about reputable appraisal companies in a well-known webmaster forum http://domaintalk.ourplace.com/Archive/13477.htm Juck check this posting. My nickname there is Bergman. After we verify an appraisal from you we'll continue our negotiations."
I've seen him around too..... He tryes to get you to buy an appraisel from HIS appraisel service.... scummy way to sell his service.....
I've had emails from that guy before when selling domain names. I just told him to get it done himself, if someone buys a house or a car it's down to the buyer to get it checked out, not the seller!
well....as I sent him his detailed name, surname, address and more...he never mailed me back...I think he got a bit frightened...
Why not get a lifetime membership? It's well worth it. The email is completely scam as some already posted. He's trying different approaches from time to time, so whenever you'll receive an email similar to the posted one stay away from it. There's not one single domain buyer who would ask you to use an appraisal service, because the domain might get appraised higher than what you would've asked.
believe me, I Know, I have started my career on Afternic.com ... a domain is worth what the highest bidder is willing to pay for having it, buttom line!
This is a common scam that I've read about in a few forums. The word is out and hopefully the idiot(s) sending these emails will quit. Such a waste of time. AmCy
I don't really think it's such a waste of time. He's probably getting some n00bs to use his service with every mail he sends. Still it's just a fucking rip-off so he should be stopped somehow...
I think so, too. He is cheating everybody who doesn't know how to deal with selling domains. Especially potential "clients" to him are new to selling domains. I think he makes a lot of $$$. If he will be known as a cheater he will change domains his name and start it from beginning. I think that there should be an internet policy or sth.
Well, I didn't mean a waste of his time, I meant a waste of our time. Hey, we were all n00bs once. A n00b may pay for an appraisal, then realize afterwards that the whole deal was a scam and, feeling cheated, may feel like doing the same thing to some other green domainer in order to "get back at the world." You know how these things go. Just trying to protect the innocent and break the cycle, if any. AmCy
