Huge superbike forum : 60,000 visitor avg per month : 4 year old

I have decided my superbike forum, it is my main site that has sat behind the scenes while I played around with my other sites. I started this site around 4 years ago.

A summary of the site:

Domains inc (currently with 1and1 which will take 3 days to transfer):

Visitors this year so far by month (full weblog stat screen will be added when I get them all together!):

JAN - 51,556
FEB - 40,522
MAR - 86,495
APR - 102,114! (best month from what I can see since I started the site)
MAY - 67,877
JUN - 20,886
JUL - 21,433

I will be getting full stats together as far back as I can through weblog expert and will post the screenshots in the next couple of hour, I'm hoping I can get 3 years worth of stats.

The site runs on community server for which you would need a asp.net host for (I run this on a dedicated server but it could be run on a much cheaper host), the members have stuck with this site since the start..we had meets, trackdays etc I stopped been involved with site when I sold my bike and have since let it run on itself with the trusted members acting as moderators.

I am trying to get all the screenshots of traffic together now and any more info about the site I can and will update this thread asap.

I haven't put Adsense on the site since 2006 (roughly) which then was earning easily $5 per day, I can put a few ads up to show it isn't banned if required. The potential this site has is huge along with the premium domains included (sportsbiker.com is a premium domain that I have had offers for alone).

Your guess is as good as mine, this is the first time I have seen the traffic for the site in 6 months.

I am currently creating the weblog report for 2007 traffic so should be ready in 10 mins.

How many unique visitors are there? Can you post this information?

How much work is it to maintain on an ongoing basis?

How many moderators do you have?

What software does it run vBulletin, phpBB, etc?

I am relatively new on this forum, but active on sitepoint.

 

I'm trying to find where I can filter uniques visitors on weblog expert, all I can see at the minute is unique IPs which is showing 47,000 for 2007 out of 550,000 visitors overall.

As far as maintaining the site - to be honest I haven't even checked the site for months I'm quite suprised how strong it still is. The moderators maintain the forum which is the main core of the site.

How many moderators do you have? - Just one main moderator for the last couple of years (he has been a rock to this site and has kept it going well, constantly logged in, always checking the posts etc..(I will post his username via PM to you just let me know) PS - I have yet to get in touch with the main moderator regarding the sale of the site, my gut feeling is that he will want to snap my hands off to buy the site, I'm expecting him to get in touch with me tomorrow about it and hopefully make me a good offer.


What software does it run vBulletin, phpBB, etc? - As stated in the first post the site runs on community server which is built on asp.net framework.

I am relatively new on this forum, but active on sitepoint - I'm quite active on sitepoint in some months, this site will be going up for sale on there if theres not alot of interest here.

Why is the .com parked?

I go to the .co.uk but the title says it is the .net?

 

.com parked? - it just is..I put it up on sedo and haven't redirected it back to the site yet, the others forward onto the .co.uk.

The site title will say sportsbiker.net as that is the original domain I used and all stickers \ t-shirts \ pens I had made up for the site was displaying sportsbiker.net, I then basically switched to use .co.uk for the primary domain and forwarded the other domains on to it.

PS I will have a look in the old cupboard and see if I can find any sportbiker.net merchandise to post pictures of tomorrow!

 

can you redirect the domain? also if you can post pics that be great. where would you say most of the traffic comes from and why?

 

Can you please direct the .com to the .co.uk to prove you own it, seems strange it is the only one not redirected.

 

I will try and redirect now if I get time, if not it will be tomorrow am (uk time).

Nothing strange about putting a domain at sedo to see how it performs?? please note the .com has never been used as the primary domain for this site only the .net \ .co.uk. If anyone is in doubt I'm sure you know how to use whois.

I'll have a look now, I'm thinking about setting up a sub domain pointing straight to the weblog expert web stats showing live stats since the site started, that way anyone interested can filter through all time traffic stats as much as they like.
