WTS $XXXX Site, PR4, 1995 Never-Expired Domain

A year ago, I purchased a PR1 domain, registered in 1995 with the intention of developing a cutting-edge directory (Reference).

After slogging on developing backlinks, I purchased a phpld licence and placed a standard directory. But that was the time that directories were getting slaughtered. So, I gave up my plans.

I have sunk a mid $xxx into the unexpired 13 year old domain name and a low $xxxx into permanent backlinks. Do some research and you will find some really fantastic backlinks to this site (including some from authority sites).

Today the site is a PR4 (no temporary backlinks) and the July numbers (upto 28th) are:
    Unique visitors 402
    Number of visits 905
    Pages 3320
    Hits 5303
    Bandwidth 380.43 MB

Interestingly, some inner pages have also gained PR :)

I am looking to sell this site and recover what I spent on it. So, please ask for the URL only if you open to a low to mid $XXXX.

URL by PM. If you have a query that might be of general interest, please ask here.

    Thanks
    Ajeet

Have you followed the saga of complete-directory . com at SitePoint? It's a PR3, with fabulous backlinks and an associated lyrics site and restaurant guide to help with indexing. Went up for sale several weeks ago with a BIN > $3,000. The seller said he's earned a steady $300/month for the last two years. Bidding reached around $2,200, but didn't reach his reserve. He put it up again with a BIN of around $2,000. This time the bidding topped out at $600. I doubt if he'll put it up again.

Has your directory earned a steady $300/month for the past two years?

Here is all I have done on this site:
    1) Paid a lot for a 13 year old domain name
    2) Bought a phpLD licence
    3) Built a helluva lot of backlinks. Several of them from powerful sites
    4) Built organic traffic
    5) Serendipitously gained PR

It is tough to put a figure on an unfinished project. For instance, if one were to go with an earnings multiple, the site would be worth zero, as I am not monetizing it yet.

So, what I am going with is any figure above what I have spent on this site. I have spent in the vicinity of $2000 actual out of pocket. So, I would let it go for a number higher than that.

I know this might not be how many like to buy sites. That is what the other threads are for. :)

What is the domain? You should post it, it will save you time rather than PMing everyone what the URL is, but you might have your reasons, so please PM me URL.

you have minimal traffic and 0 revenue.....You are not going to get much for this site. You may be able to get $500 to $600, but that is based purely on your pagerank.

    Sorry for this reality check

I must clarify that this directory never really acted as a directory as this is an abandoned project. So, it is paid or free depending upon how the buyer sees it. Honestly, it is a directory or a content website depending on how the buyer sees it.

I would not mind posting it here. But, I would like privacy to be the prerogative of the new buyer.

No problem. :) Maybe I should start thinking about limiting my losses and accepting lower offers. Thanks for the input.

UPDATE: Based on the feedback, I think it is best to offer this as a domain name sale. Hence treat this offer as closed, and look at my revised offer in the domain sales section.
