Important Note:
If you are currently running, considering or curious about getting in on the Myspace resource scene, please read this in its entirety. It is easy to dismiss the demo site as something you've already seen, but throughout this description you will be assured it is not. So don't be quick to jump to the bottom of the page for the link to the demo site, as it won't really do you a lot of good until you read the description. I apologize for the insanely long description, but is necessary so bare with me

To say it's done would be a lie. I have so many ideas for modules for this version and a complete outline of version 2 that I don't think this script will ever be 'done'. But it's at a point where it trumps every other offering out there and it's time to release it to the wild. So without further adieu, I give you



MySpace Resource Script v1.0

Short Description:
Like everyone else I jumped on the wagon when the turnkey myspace script started making its rounds. It took me all of 10 minutes to realize what I bought (luckily I didn't pay more than $100 for it) was not only barely functional, it was of poor quality and a nightmare to work with. Not to mention they all look the same. I decided then to create one from the ground up that was:

• Easy for novices to understand without being "dumbed-down".
• Expandable, allowing features/modules to be added as they are released.
• Modules that worked and updated automatically.
• Easily understandable template method that produced valid code.
• Configurable with a single file.
• Did not require a database, but still provided database-like functionality.
• Had "human readable" URL's without requiring .htaccess/mod_rewrite.
• Implemented AdSense or YPN out of the box by changing a single variable.
• One that actually worked the way you thought it should.
• And most importantly, a forum for owners to get support and updates to keep their sites running smoothly and with fresh and unique content.

That's what I set out to create anyway. What I ended up with is those features wrapped in a solid package with some clever additions.



Feature Set

Site Configuration:
The site is configured using a single php file. From this file you dictate what type of banner ad is included with the code your generators produce (viral marketing at its finest), the name of your site, the ad network you use, the image host you recommend (there are modules/generators that have options to use images. In these modules there is an upload link. You can sell this link to image uploading sites as a source of revenue or use it to promote your own image hosting site. Alternatively you can simply link to imageshack) and a slew of other options. Everything you need to edit is in this one, well commented file.

File & Folder Structure:
Beyond the brains of the site having special folders, the site is structured precisely like the menu is structured. You will find your modules exactly where they should be. The script is 'intelligent' enough to know where to get its files regardless of where you place the script.

Template System:
Anything associated with the presentation of the site is contained in the theme folder. The primary technique used is obviously through includes for the header, footer, navigation and special content_before and content_after files you can include before and after the content on each page. It's intelligently designed and very flexible. There is a single style sheet and presentational markup is never included in the html unless it is part of the module (the color table for example). The template itself is clean and comprehensive.

• Unique Feature:
  In an effort to ensure your site never looks 'the same old', it is 'endowed' with the ability to push its color scheme around. You will see in the demo site (listed below) that while the overall scheme is consistent throughout the site, the individual colors that represent the sections of the site are shuffled around. A subtle touch, but one I think is important.

Ad Integration:
I have included ad support for both AdSense and YPN natively. Adding other ad networks is not a difficult task either. The ads themselves are included in the template system and are part of the overall theme rather than individual pages. To change from one ad network to the other, all you need to do is change a single option in the very well documented configuration file. Ads also benefit from the color morphing nature of the site, ensuring your visitors do not get 'ad blindness'. You will also note that the images(icons) next to the ads are randomly displayed. These icons are pulled from a specific directory. A small note is that I have taken measures to ensure the same image is not shown twice on the same page (the same is also true for the color morphing). Again, these are subtle touches I feel most people will appreciate.

• Unique Feature:
  The index page is the only page that has its own unique template. This is because I have implemented something you have most likely never seen. The front page consists of a menu table with 10 items. 7 menu blocks and 3 Ad Network blocks. These 10 blocks are randomly colored and placed each time the page loads. This is another measure to ensure your visitors do not suffer from ad blindness. You can easily implement this feature throughout the site and even replace your traditional menu with it. You really have to see it in action (again, the link to the demo is below) to appreciate the genius behind it.

Modules:
Here is where I took great care in what I was doing and took it upon myself to find tools that would enhance the user experience and make your site more attractive. Rather than make a list of how I made every aspect of a myspace resource site better, I will point out some key features below to outline the care I have put in to this script.

• Special Bonuses:
  I have spent a considerable amount of money assuring I provide the best tools for you to use in the modules that come with the site, any future additions, and any modules you may choose to create yourself. Part of that is licensing the two best javascript color pickers for distribution. Something that would cost you $100 to obtain on your own - and I include them with the script. One is the highly acclaimed ColourMod and the other is the very impressive Color Table Picker that works in ALL javascript enabled browsers. I went a step further and provided 3 different color tables for use with the latter as opposed to the standard one. Now you can (easily) choose whether to use a DreamWeaver style pallet, a PhotoShop style pallet or my own pallet that provides a great array of colors. And of course, colourmod provides you with the entire RGB spectrum.
  
  
• Scrollbar generator:
  Because I provide these tools, The ever-so-stale generators that currently force users to manually type in the colors using a color chart, they can now choose the color they want with one of the included color pickers. A great example of this is the scrollbar generator with live preview module. Not only does it include a color picker to make designing scrollbars a lot easier, it includes a live preview (that works in Firefox even though firefox doesn't support scrollbar colors) that updates to show you what your scrollbar will look like before you create it. Now that users have a choice between this one or the other ones, which one will they use?
  
  
• Layout Generator:
  There are two types of layout generators. The kind that you type in all your preferences, or the kind with the live preview. Because I was originally going to offer two versions of the script -one basic version without support and one premium version with support- I have two of them. The first version is enhanced in the same way the scrollbar generator is, using color pickers for selection. Because I decided to only release one complete script, two types of layout generators are included. The one listed above and the one that shows a live preview. Rather than developing the later type myself, I sought out the distribution rights to one (which is actually difficult when you are determined to make sure you get them from the right person with all the fraud going around). What you will likely find are cloned versions that don't work properly and spit out code that doesn't actually work on myspace. What you get with this script are two versions that both produce the same layout code. I have not integrated the later into the theme, but it is included as a popup or separate domain module.
  
  
• Image and Code Listing Modules:
  Any modules that displays a list of items and their codes uses a resource module that automatically reads the directory and produces your pages. You don't need to create multiple pages for a lot of items either as I have implemented on the fly pagination. You can of-course choose how many items you want to be displayed per page. Image directory pages use a thumbnails folder to create the directory (as can be seen here).

Service and Support

Support:
If you buy a MySpace resource site anywhere else, you get a .rar or a .zip file and your wished on your Merry way. When you by the Myspace Resource Script you get directions (Enter your details in config.php, upload site) and you get access to the private Platinum forum where only MySpace Resource Script owners will have access to support from myself and each other. Not only this, but this is where new modules will be released to you. Free of charge.

Perks:
A great perk of being a MySpace Resource Site owner is that when I see a script that would make a great module, I will purchase the distribution rights to it - make a module out of it - and post it on on Platinum forum. For free. Does anyone else offer that?

Still not convinced?
A big problem with people selling their scripts is that they didn't create them. So if you're not happy with it, you don't buy it. Not so with MySpace Resource Site. If there is something preventing you from purchasing the script, you can rest assured that I will work within reason (and I'm a very reasonable person) to create the functionality you're after as long as you're an owner. If there is something the script needs, or something that will make it better - why wouldn't I want to implement it? If there is anything you will find out about me (if you aren't already familiar with how I do business), you will find I am helpful, fair and honest to a fault.

Guarantee:
Here is where it gets difficult for me. This script is a visible source script. Meaning that once you have it, you have the whole thing. Naked for you to see. Because of this, it makes it difficult for me to offer a 100% money back guarantee. Here's what I will guarantee though: If for any reason MySpace Resource Script does not work properly on your server, providing it meets the requirements, I will host the site on my server for you until we can figure out what is wrong. As long as you have read the description and seen the demo site, you are aware of exactly what you're getting. The only reason to request a refund would be if your server does not have PHP 4.3 and MySQL 4 (the only real requirements). If for some reason it doesn't work, I'll host it on my server while we figure it out together.



Features in Development

MySpace Resource Script Theme Generator:
This is a generator for you, not your users. I am already nearing completion on a tool that will allow you to design layouts for your MySpace Resource Site and generate the images and code you need. Never in the history of scripts have I seen this feature, which is silly because as long as you themed your script intelligently, it's not difficult to do. This is my way to make sure everyone who purchases the script gets a unique design without having to open up a photo editing program. You should note that even though this feature is near done, I have already included the .PSD and pleanty of alternative theme elements to make sure you have a lot of options between now and completion time.

Image Hosting Module:
I have a very robust image hosting script that will make its way into this site as a simplified image hosting module giving you yet another alternative to the image hosting duties on the site. The second version of this module will allow you (optionally of course) to watermark the uploaded images providing you have GD installed on your server. A very common php plugin.

Full Featured Train Module:
Currently I have included a very simple MySpace Train Module. I will either obtain the distribution rights to a good solution, or will develop one myself. I chose to leave this as a future module because MySpace Trains do little for directing quality, converting traffic to your site - but I understand some people will want a more robust solution that the one provided.

Integrated Layout Designer:
While A very clean and quality MySpace Layout Designer is included with the package, I would like to fully integrate it into a MySpace Resource Script module.

The sky is the limit:
This is why I chose to release the script now. I know I have some pretty good ideas, but I'm not making the script for me - I'm making it for you. So it seems foolish to fill my head with features I want when I want to be adding features you want.



Pricing, Availability, Demo & Special Bonus.

Pricing: $147
$147 is the amount of money it would cost for you to license the tools I sought the distribution licenses to. Not my cost (which was a lot more than $147), but yours. For this price you get all these tools (many which I have personally improved upon) bundled into the full featured MySpace Resource Script along with the plethora of other goodies mentioned above. I don't feel I could have made the package more enticing or priced it any better without cutting myself short. It's a great deal. Especially considering the first wave those knock-off scripts were being nabbed at $200 a piece all day long when they first came around. I have to say it does look nice, good work there. However, at this price I have a few concerns.

#1 There's nothing to limit you from selling as many of these as you can especially if you dropped the price and sales started flowing in. A couple of weeks/months later and many would have their hands on this already.

#2 You really can't guarantee that no one will steal this. It could get stolen and spread like wildfire and here we go again another script that everyone has that I paid $147 for. Let's think realistically, some punk overseas steals this and starts selling hundreds of copies the chances of finding all these people are very slim nevermind going through with stopping them.

I'm all for constructive criticism via PM, but it's simply bad form to post in some one's sales thread unless they're doing something wrong. The unfortunate truth is that there is no foolproof way to make sure the script isn't stolen. What I can make sure of is that they only have access to the base script. This is why I created the closed forums in the first place - so the really good stuff comes as an add-on. Additionally, what makes the killerkiwi script and the one before that different is that I developed this myself with the intent on creating it for other people. What stops people from using nullified versions of GS or GSS? Nothing really, but it's rare because the majority of people are honest enough to do it right. I'm not selling a script I stole from someone, I'm selling a script I worked very, very hard on and am committed to continuing develop and turn into something that will be able to be used for much more than just a myspace resource site.

Honestly I don't feel like $150 is unreasonable to ask considering other's cost more.
Also when you figure the amount of time/labor into building and improving the script with free upgrades, dividing the number of hours by $150...well I don't think I would pay myself to work that cheaply.

The product itself looks great, ALOT nicer than the other cookie cutter MFA myspace sites IMO.

I may be interested if I find the time to develop a site like that, in either case I will keep an eye on how the product progresses.

The template itself is done in a fashion that you never need to change anything other than a single style sheet and images. I'm a very particular designer and keep structural markup and presentational markup separate. It most definitely does not use Smarty like phpld does, and will not ever. As anyone that has purchased the script can tell you, there's almost nothing I'm not willing to do to help you make it unique.

It comes with all the content you see on www.myspacescriptz.com, and adding content is very easy.
