Wikipedia VS Knol (Google)

Looks like Google are releasing their version of Wikipedia. Probably because Wikiepedia are going to release their own search engine.

What are your views on this? I've already starting writing Knols as it will soon become as strong as Wikipedia and could provide valuable backlinks.

Knol is also going to have contexual adverts, which will be shared. I've put my adsense on my knols.

Knol definitly has much more informative articles including this one about how to properly clear a clogged toilet.

links in knol are no follow so not much use

This time round I think Wikipedia will prevail, it is definitely not easy to build up another Wiki from scratch. However their search engine is just a waste of time, no fight against Google, in the same way as Google Knol is no match against Wikipedia. I guess each needs to concentrate on their core competencies rather than spreading their resources too thinly.

Wikipedia is better more information and knol after I look at it I just wana leave google need to hire someone to desgin it for them !

Wikipedia was already established its reputation and adding search engine will be another interesting services they can serve. Google have to divert their services into more interesting features.

Any links generated are nofollow, so no use for SEO I guess. But great to have another reliable information source.

even though that google created knol it has a long way to beat wikipedia, wikipedia has a reputation and establish site, but knol is quite interesting!
