Lay some serious Google SEO tips/knowledge down in this thread.

I haven't learned anything new in a long time and am looking to see something new in this thread.

You can do it!

1- title is most important
2- description/keywords is also important, google didn't rely on this but still important
3- h1,h2,h3 is important in your content
4- alt tag in images is very important.
5- bold/italic/underline text is also important and highlight google's eye.
6- important keywords in the start of the page, and some of them in the end of the page is also good theme.
7- no repeating
8- no keyword stuffing
9- don't make page for Google.


10- repeat above a 100 times.


tell me if i were wrong in somewhere.

Use the rel="nofollow" tag to block link juice from passing to pages taht don't need to rank or don't deserve the almight PR. Nofollow your privacy, about us, contact us... just some ideas

yes ....also create a sitemap.xml file and place all important (to be crawled links) in it. Then simply link it from the home page of your website. You will see the links in sitemap.xml will be crawled very swiftly. So no need to submit each and every page of your website in search engines and also no need to place all links on home page Hope this info helps too.

If you suddenly somehow lose your ranking don't panic. Be patient and give it a days or weeks to see how it goes. While waiting try to remember if you have drastically changed or done something to your sites. Make your next move based on that observations.

i guess he means dont do it (seo) a bit too much like you should more concentrate on content and rest will follow. for me the most important things to be done while doing seo of some site are:

1 - the most important thing in seo for me has been anchor text of the backlinks. internal linking of the site has also much to do with seo. backlinks from link exchanged are still very effective, people say that reciprocal link exchanges dont work these days and stuff - they have always worked for me. always ! =P
2 - page titles play a very big role.
3 - meta description is another important factor. it should not be more than 150 characters.
4 - heading tags also have a very big part in on-page optimization.
5 - meta description should be added in body aswell and keywords you are targeting should be made bold/italic in that description.
6 - creating sitemap and submitting it to google/live/yahoo.
7 - alt tags, every image in the site should have them
8 - domain age - the domain should be registered for 2 years atleast.
9 - social bookmarking has been way better for my sites than directory submissions.

and nothing else right now, will might add some more point later =)

- The way you link internally is very important.
- Make a robots.txt and have it point to your sitemap as well.

You need to keep your home page as clean for outbound links as possible...

Leave comments on relevant blogs that are related to your site. Make sure that it is a do follow blog. Don't forget to use your anchor text.

this is because googles idea is to create content for people, not for search engines. so my best sites are carefully created using all the ideas above, but with the user in mind. Rememebr that to create your site for people, not search engines. I have fallen into this trap before and will never do it again, it does not work!
