Today i found this site: www.downloadanimenow.com. Its in the ejunkie affiliate network and belongs to a fellow member of this forum. i won't name him, he will recognise himself, as this site is in his signature anyway. This site was in the clickbank network for a little over 9 months: www.downloadanimevideos.com I know most sites about similar products kinda look-alike. i admit my own home page looks a bit like the one of downloadanimevideos.com. But this guy's site is just....excessive copying. Lets compare www.downloadanimevideos.com <--respectable 20 gravity site in CB network since october 2007 to www.downloadanimenow.com <---newly created site by some little guy who believed he could get away with it. Looks familiar? Not only did he steal the whole downloadanimevideos.com site, but he also stole quotes, javascripts, ideas and even entire pages from MY site, also anime. I have reported this site to Ejunkie network and to his webhoster, and i contacted downloadanimevideos.com's webmaster with great recommendation to do the same. We are going to take him down, seriously... But its pretty ironic, this guy, on THIS forum, came in my site's thread and asked me for tips on how to get converting anime traffic, with a very visible signature linking to this copycat site. Was he really expecting me to help him promote his scam? The more complaints there is, the more chances he has to get desactivated. Help me take down this plagiarist: go to the ejunkie network and complain about his site, and if possible to his webhoster too.
I just have to say thats pretty funny. I mean, its like identical! As much as this should be taken as a serious matter, its almost hilarious
Yeah, I realized back in 1997 how reproducible websites were. I came up with the first of a kind and was doing ok (made about $10k in '96 to '97)... then after that one year I had 100 copycat competitors. My revenues went from 10k a year to 0. Still, in those cases they didn't just blatantly rip-off my site, even down to the links. If you're going to rip-off a site, take someone who isn't a competitor of yours and then change the images and HTML enough so you aren't violating copyrights!
I've had someone copy my landing page and forget to change the affiliate links. What a good thing for me lol. I made about $600 in 3 days and couldn't figure out for the life of me where the leads were coming from.
i don't understand how can someone do the "hard" work of copying without doing the ONLY change that matters.... Its quite funny. the guy who owns the copycat site just removed the link from his signature....Such a shame.
Hey guys, I was the one PROMOTING the site but not the run who created the site or copy and pasted code or whatever he did, the person created the site has a account on DP under the name of hig2, he is a very good friend of mine and simply asked me to promote it on DP, I had no clue he had copied those 2 other websites, and for that I am sorry. I did remove the link from my signature, just because I don't want to be promoting a site that has copy and pasted content, I am a freelance designer as well and know how much it can piss people off when they basically steal sites and designs. So I will contact him and get him to post here, kk?
Great idea. By the way tell him his site is going to go down just as fast as his reputation among download site owners.
I'll let you tell him that yourself But yeah, glad my name is finally half-cleared now, don't want loads of members going crazy at me over something I couldn't control
It's good that you guys sorted this out - still seems a lil' sketchy but congrats on the final result - karma baby. NC.
Whats really interesting about this whole thing is.... Where do you all get your anime??? I know most anime sites download their videos illegally and feel it's okay not to pay the creators of the video's. So who's calling the kettle black? Are you paying royalties to the makers of the video's or the artists? That'll give you something to chew on.....
umm....interesting, do you mind sharing his contact details so that he can do the same for some of my landing pages? lol
I know that this sounds a bold statement but i have been a member of some of these anime sites present on clickbank, and i must say that at least 95% of the material is the same on all sites. Probably they rip each others and just change the design of the website......anyways the material on these websites is illegal asnd is not owned by these publisher, its kind of copying from those who copied themselves...
luckily i still had a page of the site open unrefreshed. its the FAQ and you can see it was literally copy/pasted from my faq there: http://www.allanimedownloads.com/faq.htm
