Finding out your competitors keywords is what we would all love to do. There are many free tools out there (including Googles own) which generate keyword proposals, but what most of us want to know is what keywords the competition are using in Adwords. As yet the only applications or services I've seen out there that offer the ability to locate your customers keywords cost money. In fact, many require a monthly or even annual subscription and aren't cheap. I subscribe to such a service, but having achieved my aim - located my competitors keywords and optimized my Adswords campaign - I'm not really using the service now, just playing with it out of curiosity, keeping an eye on the competition. I don't actually want to mention the service I use by name as I think my proposal may be against their TOS, but here's my idea. For a small fee (I'm looking for you guys to perhaps come up with what you believe to be a fair price?) I can do either of the following: Peform a search on a specific keyword and provide a list of URL's that are currently bidding on these keywords in Adwords. or Perform a search on a URL and provide a list of all the keywords that URL is currently bidding on in Adwords. This information will only includes the keywords and excludes any data on the price your competitors are bidding for the keywords. I will provide the information in either a Excel or Text format. This is just an idea, but if anyone would be interested in my proposal, kindly post a reply with your comments please. I am also keen to establish a fair price for such a service, so proposals on price are also warmly welcomed.
i would be interested in something like this. But I want to go further and find many long tail keywords alongside the ones the competitor is using
If you know who your competitors are, you can analyse their backlinks and find the anchor text they are using, and you can also click on their site and 'view source' to see what their tags are which of course they are optimising for. Simple and easy. If you dont know who your competitors are....Then simply click your term in Google...E.g. 'Nokia N95' and click on the top websites and analyse. Easy
do not just copy-paste your competitors’ keywords, use it as additional help for your keyword research..
I have always found in marketing, thinking out outside the box, is required. I am optimizing for some keywords my competition uses. But it seems to me very general words just don't do well. It generates to many shoppers and not conversions. People always seem to get stuck in the rut of finding the biggest/best of the competition and just trying to duplicate them. Even if you did that 100% and their site is older and has more quality backlinks it is a waisted effort. just my 2 cents
