    Business Summary:

Online Advertising company that sells what are known as text link ads on high traffic web sites since 2004. We market our publishers' ad inventory through a strong brand & customer base built over the past 2 years. The market for the text link advertising is based on the Alexa, PageRank & Number of Outbound Links of our publishers. Alexa measures a website's traffic. PageRank is a measure of the strength of a website's backlinks and the higher a site s PageRank (PR), the higher the price a text link ad will demand. This is important for our buying clients because a source of traffic to their websites is through the search engines.

Got a strange PM from the seller. I think this is a scam.

How can you sell something like this without revealing the url?

If this is not a scam then please can the seller provide more details.

    Hello All,

I have been a reader of this forum for over two years. I've started & have grown one of the top text link companies since 2004 via eBay.com, Linkadage.com & my email marketing list of over 4000+ webmasters.

Hopefully everybody got a chance to read my auction (includes Paypal screenshots/income verification from the past 2 months): http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7622672422.

Due to my business producing 20K+/month profit & most forum readers not having the capital or interest in ACTUALLY buying my business, I've been really skeptical & cautious about releasing information not only for myself, but to protect the majority of my publishers & customers.

    ABOUT ME:

I'm 28 & started my professional career, after graduating from the University Of California - Irvine, doing 3 years of IT application support & development at Johnson & Johnson. After finding out the slow growth opportunity in corporate america, I left and took 10 weeks before finally stumbling upon the text link niche market in 2004.

After getting my first publisher contract, I did telemarketing for the next few years & have grown this business via word of mouth, referrals & email marketing.

Business is strong, but I'm a young, serial entrepreneur looking to raise capital for an online media idea.

If you are a qualified & seriously interested potential acquirer of this great biz opportunity, please PM me & I'll determine whether to release more specifics.

Anyhow, here are some reoccuring questions & answers:

Basically, you are buying text ads in certain spots and reselling them, is that right?

Yes. We sign contracts with our publishers to sell text link on their site. We acquire the rights to sell usually between 20 -30 links per site. We have an email marketing list of 4220 webmasters of which 250 are past or present paying customers.

Currently we have about 75 paying customers who buy between $30 - $3000/month. A few sample customers include BizRate.com & LawInfo.com. 99.99% of transactions are done via email/Paypal.com. We aren't supported by 1 or 2 big accounts, but rather the sum of 75 accounts that add up.

Since most of our customers buy links for SEO/SEM (search engine optimization/seach engine marketing) purposes & clicks secondly, the link location from our publishers isn't too critical. That's a great selling point for adding new publishers. The biz can significantly grow by hiring a part-time telemarketer (or doing it yourself) & leveraging our current portfolio of 30 reputable publishers to sign additional contracts & secure more advertising inventory for our customers who are always looking to buy more links.

How much cash is needed to operate the biz on a daily basis? What other proof of income can you give me.

We have our publishers on a net 30 basis. On a daily basis, only 1+ hours of work is needed to maintain the biz. Some days require 0 hours, others 2 +. So 1 hour/day is an avg.

I can have my accountant fax tax returns if necessary, but I think paypal receipts are best since they directly related to the sell of our advertising inventory & I can provide screenshots or direct access if you visit my home office in Malibu, CA.

I read your eBay listing, but I still am sort of confused. Who are your customers and who are your publishers?

I prefer not to release every publisher & customer to the general public. We have 30 websites we partner with on selling their text link inventory. We have about 25 sites that we have developed that have PR value up to 7. Also, these sites are making around $2000/k from affiliate programs. As far as clients/customers, we have about 75 current & 250 past/present customers.

Some Sample Customers include Bizrate.com & LawInfo.com. Most of our customers are SEO firms, Webmasters & Internet companies.

    A Sample Publisher includes:
    www.entrepreneur.com

    More info:

    http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j59/link_millionaire/publisher_sample.jpg

Are companies like entrepreneur and bizrate paying you for a service? Or are you paying them for text link space and selling it to individuals?

Entrepreneur.com is a publisher. So we pay them $999/month for 6 text links. We then resell those text links individually to our customers such as BizRate.com at $333/month. So after selling all 6 we stand to bring in $1999/month for the entrepreneur.com contract/publisher text link reseller relationship.

What I am looking at is the stability of the company, who is the company relying on for there income.

HOW STABLE IS BUSINESS (From eBay auction)??

    # VERY...completely self-employed since starting biz in 2004

    # Customer base generates millions in online revenue for themselves, so we don't rely on extremely small businesses

Also, we have 75 accounts or customers paying between $30 - $3000/month. At close to $40K/month in total revenues, you can do the math & see we aren't relying on 1 or 2 customers, but the aggregate of our client's purchases.

We've been in business since 2004 & our biggest asset is in our brand and the trust we've developed. Our customers trust us enough to have done $700,000 in business via Paypal transactions because we deliver excellent service & our sites are of the best quality available online. Most of our growth has been word of mouth & referrals.

How do the PR # numbers work. I dont understand that myself. What is their significance?

PageRank (PR) provides a baseline or guideline for the market value of a particular publisher's text links. For instance, we usually pay $20/month - $50/month for a PR7 link & $100/month - $200/month for a PR 8 because we are buying in such bulk (20-30 links).

This is how we are able to initially mark up our links because of the service we are providing by securing contracts with publishers that otherwise wouldn't be interested in selling individuals links at $50 or $200/month. But when we offer $1000/month (PR7) or $6000/month (PR8) to publishers, our value proposition & incentive for them to try our program becomes clear. We usually retain 99% of the publishers that give us a try.

For more details on PageRank (which isn't necessary to run this biz), please read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PageRank

Also, what work will I need to do and what knowlege is needed to run this biz? I pick up stuff pretty fast. I dont really have any expertise in marketing or anything like that.

This is really an easy business to run. I didn't have any marketing experience myself when I started this company. My complete professional experience was 3 years doing application support & development at Johnson & Johnson. Basic industry knowledge, training & basic business skills/customer service is all that's needed to maintain and/or grow this business.

After a full day of training, any businessman should be able to pick it up. There really isn't anything too technical to know even though we are in a tech-related internet advertising space.

The growth potential should be extremely attractive to any buyer willing to invest the time. It may sound a lot more complicated than it really is. I'm willing to consult any buyer on an agreed upon time arrangement.

    Again

    # YEARLY REVENUES (~60% profit margins):

    2004 Rev. = $47,346

    2005 Rev. = $429,143

    2006 Rev. (to date) = $168,506 + ~1000/month in SEO income - (expenses = $68,718)

    PROFIT Since 1/1/06 = $103,479 (including Adsene)

    est. yearly income = $275,000!!!

I don't know of too many businesses in the online world that really sell for more than 1-1.5 times ther annual earnings. Anything more than that and it's a huge gamble for the buyer unless there is residual revenue built in.

Your price seems to be within the bounds of fairness provided that all relationships are locked in for at least another 2 years to recoup the initial investment.

I think its a fair deal , you will certainly find a buyer, but it may take a few months because of the significant size of the online business up for sale

I'm certainly not in any particular rush or have to sell the biz. Would like to find the right buyer, but in the meantime, I'm content with collecting 20K+/month profit and providing excellent customer service.

As I said, I'm been a passive member of DP for 2 years. Didn't need 30 posts with the relationships & time I've spent on this forum.

"Spdude" use to sell my links on this very forum.

Would more could I do beside giving away my Paypal login and/or server access away??

Not sure why a business grown since 2004 via eBay, linkadage, email marketing, telemarketing & word of mouth is so remarkable?? It was a matter of getting in the market at the right time & developing a trusted brand where my customers feel comfortable doing biz.

So for this kind of money are we going to get REAL third party verification of the financial numbers? IE tax returns provided by the IRS, bank statements, on site log in to paypal for verification?

After all anyone can edit a screen shot to look however they want it to look. For this kind of money I would have to have some real facts to back up the numbers.
