"Aff." in ad copy?
Hi all,
I noticed that many affiliates using AdWords are still using "aff." in their ad copies in Adwords. I am not quite sure, but some time ago (maybe a year..) I've found out somewhere that Adwords TOS does not require stating that you're affiliate in your ad copy. Is that so? I just tried to check that out in AdWords TOS but had no success. Can anyone confirm that? Thanks ![]() nervo

You dont need to anymore. This came about with the change in how Adwords doesnt display duplicate URL's anymore.

They just don't know any better. Some people just don't keep up with the news and missed that whole big change. I still have affiliates that just found out trying to read my old blog about it to figure out what to do.

The reason why "aff" or"affiliate" still show on the ads is because some advertisers required affiliates to "state clearly as an affiliate".

It probably also has to do with the ad histories. The affiliates have good quality scores/CTRs and don't want to mess with their ads and risk losing their spots. Why rock the boat if you dont' have to?

It seems odd that some firms would want the affiliate to put in a 'aff' statement in the ad, as it does not make too much of a difference to them if the click takes the user direct to the site.
