hmmm.. my initial thought was "obnoxious". However, ads in general can just be obnoxious. hehe.

Maybe it needs to grow on me.

careful, you are border line on "drawing unnatural attention" to your ads, which violates TOS ..

    (BTW, nice looking blog)

Well it seems to me he was just sharing somethign interesteing although I guess we can't be sure what google would say.

Anyways as keyz said they do look a little obnoxious. I really don't think that would work better if anyhitng it seems like those ads would work worse although that is just my opinion.

I have seen something like that in one of those link bars like the one right below the navigation on the topic-starters blog. It had a box that said view ads for and then a type-in box.

Im not happy with these new formats. I think it make the ads look more ads and people don't want to see ads. Since it is a test i hope google sees this their results. If though the new formats are generating more money thats good.

Second point is doesn't google trust in its on contextual detecting techniques and they have to then basicly ask the user what there looking for.

    Nope, not convinced here.

These have been around for quite a while, I think they have ramped up testing of them, since they seemed to be only on select sites before. I would be interested to know what the CTR of these are, once you exclude all the webmasters clicking on them just to check them out :p

Yeah yeah, can't a guy get a H2 from Adsense anymore ?

So, can if you have the time, can you point out some other discussions on forums, blogs, about this issue ?

Yeap, just a little late. I read that thread just now, thanks, but it doesn't tell me anything about the new layout. Just other reports that people have seen it.

And Jen sais that it's been used in the past, and now dropped, but i saw it, other people saw it, and the reports are from 2 days ago, until now.

So that's not old, and that's not dropped. :)

LOL, I wasn't referring to your site specifically, but rather CTR stats in general from AdSense across all sites using this, once you exclude the looky-loos. Yahoo has been testing this format more recently as well.
