I am interested in learning PHP but I am not sure where to start yet. Could anyone pitch out some ideas on where they started?

You might buy a PHP book or 2 to have handy for reference. Though I found it hard to read and understand them until I gained some basic understanding of PHP. For me I started making small changes to an Amazon affiliate script. When you are making a few dollars as you learn it always helps! Once you learn a few basic PHP terms you can find a lot of simple examples on the web. One of the sites I have found very helpful is http://www.tizag.com .

Call me old fashioned but I still think the manual at php.net/manual/en/ (sorry, DP doesn't let me post live links yet :)) is the best resource :)

You'll use the function lookup there a lot.

Yes, read the user comments in the PHP Manual. Very useful tips there!

Also, download a few basic scripts and see how they work eg. counters, date and time, and calenders.
