The "nice" story from register.com

    Register.com is well know as high priced registrar, which cost you around $35 /year per domain. However they also run a free domain promotion for quite a long time. Since I never have a domain with them before, and want to give a try to see whether are they worth my money or not, so I decided to give them a try.

    Finally, last 2 months I register a new domain with register.com, by using a free domain promo link. After 2 months, which is today, I would likes to transfer my domain to another registrar, since I don't want to pay a high price fee to renew my domain. Maybe most of you already know to get a auth code is simple, just to login to control panel to request / see it. But the funny thing in register.com is I need to call them to get a auth code so they can "talk" with the you ( Wah, good service! :D ) . So, I have no choice, just to call it, and pay for international calling fee :eek: . After that, a rep answer my phone, and ask me wait for 10 minutes because it's another department to handle this issue, so I heard they music for 15 minutes and they promotion ;).

    After 15 minutes, another rap finally answer my phone, and ask the details, such as why you want to transfer it, where you want to transfer, secret question bla bla bla... and cost me around $3 calling fee just to request a auth code. Now I'm still waiting to get my auth code.

    Now, after you hearing my story, it's time for you to decide whether to take they "free domain" promotion or not. :rolleyes:

    Sorry but what did you expect? To get a free domain from them and then transfer it "easy" away from them? They aren't stupid.

    Nope. Even you pay $35 but you still have to do the same thing, call and request for auth code.

    Prices can be lowered for long term renewals.

    They are promoting their business not just for peoples to transfer out from them,but to promote their business broadly.
    I expect,they can get many good registrations offering the free promotions,which will never think to transfer out from them.There are many good faith registrations inspired by free promotional offers.:cool:

    Free/chances are not always the ultimate,the world sees !;)
    I believe,nothing is free other than true love/respect/blessings !
