Guys can anybody help what do you feel which is better to design websites plain HTML or a wordpress blog . I was all for a wordpress blog untill I was told that a static site in wordpress will loose it SE Rankings quickly .Any help will be appreciated
HTML will be a LOT more work, but it's probably the better way to go if you have decent coding experience. The only thing I don't like about wordpress (or any other "instant" template) is that I can't easily fix things that break - and things will break. With a hand-built html/css/php site, I can trouble-shoot quickly since it's my code.
neither! try modx. It is really neat, and sort of half way between the two, but more powerful than wordpress
Wordpress is pretty good if you don`t have time (and experience) for creating site from 0. But it`s not too creative.
If you're going to create a blog, then you would be better off using some sort of CMS application such as Wordpress to ease editing and making things like comments, RSS feeds and the like much easier to implement. However, the downside of using Wordpress is that it goes beyond simply generating a website. You'll have to design the site and the implement it into the CMS.
go for wordpress blog as you can easily add functionality to it using plugins and it is SEO friendly too and you will be getting traffic quickly when you will start posting
Thanks guys for all the help .The questions still remains is which one is better for SEO . Has wordpress has any disadvantage against the HTML site to attract traffic ??
It does-but plugins exist to remedy these issues. If you do go with WP (I recommend that you do, especially if your host has Fantastico) download and install the All-In-One SEO plug-in and the Category Base Killer. You'll also need to configure SEO-friendly permalinks in the admin panel. If you skip this step, your pages will not be optimized. When properly configured, Wordpress is far superior for SEO, with tools like tags and a navigation structure that takes out the guesswork. It does have a learning curve, but once you get used to how it works, you'll never go back. The support forum has everything you need (wordpress.org, not .com), but don't expect anyone to answer newbie questions on those boards. The moderators are not that friendly or tolerant and no one else answers support threads. If PHP is a mystery to you, you may not have much control over your site, but with WP, if what you need is at all common, there is surely a plug-in for it. A little Googling goes a long way.
For seo related purpose, both sucks, both rocks. It depends on your skills honestly when it comes to pure seo. Wordpress or html have nothin to do with seo! Wordpress is a blog, a blog typically is not static content now is it? But look at my site, you'll see its a combo between static site and a cms.
Wordpress in my opinion can be just as SEO friendly as plain html, as someone mentioned there are all sorts of plugins to have wordpress improve SEO. Can't list them offhand but at the end of the day the benefits of a dynamic site far outweigh those of a static html site.
Just remeber that a blog is different than a website. Where a website will change once a week, once a month or even once a year, it can hold ranking and grow in traffic. However a blog needs to keep active to ensure that it keeps its traffic up. Thats why miniwebsites are so cool. Just get a html editor and build away. Certainly blogs are easier to get links but guess what you can add technorati tags to your webpages as well. IMHO - Wordpress is not as good as a regular website - by virtue of work load.
Hmm. Interesting question. I have to admit I've never heard of any downfalls of Wordpress regarding SEO, but I can see how it could potentially be affected. I'll have to look into it deeper myself.
The problems are duplicate content caused by the navigation/category/archiving structure, and PHP URL's that by default fail to take advantage of inurl keyword placement in the page permalinks. As noted in my post above, there is a quick fix to these issues, but out-of-the-box, Wordpress is not great for SEO. Few CMS's actually are.
Html will be more seo friendly for static website. but if you are planning to go for site having more pages say 20-30 then you definately need a content management. By installing few plugins you can make it seo friendly.
i prefer for wordpress blog is a good way. better than html static way... Ranking SE is important too
Thanks Guys for all these invaluable inputs , but lets keep the thread going and see if we can reach a conseseus. What about some CMSs like modx ...
Hey wp has a function through which you could post static pages instead of article post .What happens then does it still loose rankings ???. I guess this should take care of SEO , with advantages of wp. What CMS's would you recommend
if it is wordpress or html, I choose wordpress if it is wordpress or dynamic site (PHP,ASP. whateva), uhmm...., both are gr8. but no plain HTML
