New Adsense Beta Feature?
Check out this new Adsense format. I've never seen it before. I wonder if it is a beta of what might get released to us regular publishers soon?
http://www.consumeraffairs.com/links..._resources.htm The ad is on the left side. A skyscraper. Refresh a few times if you don't see what I'm talking about. Basically there is a list of keywords under the ad that let you change the ads shown. Pretty neat. |

Hmmm. I wasn't aware of any such feature.
Doesn't sound like a very good idea though, if you can select the kind of ads you want. Everyone will go for "asbestos cancer" ads and similar high paying ads and the advertisers who pay $0.09 per click through won't have a shot at getting any exposures. I couldn't find anything about this on Google's site. Are you sure this site's not using some "loophole" to manipulate the ads being served?

It uses frames to change the page (that frame atleast).

I checked the page source. The "ad_format" parameter has a "beta" extension on it. I think it is a legit beta format...

Would that work for you? Would you ever switch over a TV to watch different adverts ? Doesn't really seem like a wise idea + Search engines dont really like frames.. so that would seem an odd move.

Agreed. At first glance it seems like a good idea. But not quite sure how much it would be used by real visitors. Apparently, however, they seem to be able to configure a theme for the ad box, or at least the keywords at the base, etc. That would be useful... ;-)

bobafind, I would be careful. That could be considered modifying the code, which is against G's TOS. And I'm sure they have ways of tracking/reporting on the usage of it.

I mean... if you are looking for a specific product and you can get the information from a trusted source, such as Google, why not asking them to show you the Ads relevant to the product you want? Looks extremely beneficial to me... BOTH for the customers AND the publishers! Awesome! . |

I tried it - couldn't get any ads, so I removed it. Wonder if you have to be an "official" beta tester to use it. Oh well.. if it's a good product, it will be released eventually
