Hey ppl, Thought i would start a thread about this as i want this issue cleared up. Ok, it is my understanding that you can link to sites hosting content and thats legal, the moment a warez site becomes illegal is when the site hosts the content its self. Am i right, wrong or simply more to it than that?
yes thats true as per us laws its legal to link to warez sites but it is still unclear in india whether we can link to or not but i think we also need to follow us laws because the hosting servers are in us so we can link to warez downloading
lol who said anything about helping crime .... Watch out though, you can also get in trouble when you link to illegal content, just look at what happened to tvlinks (forgot the url).

it is illegal, although you're not directly providing the content you're helping people access it. same thing as piratebay and the other torrent sites getting in trouble
This is interesting with respect to tv-links, NOT charged and released. Apparently there is really not alot they can do, they can try, but they will fail unless of course the laws have changed. I think there is some talk regarding an infringement against freedom of speech. But where ever you look no difinitive answer.

Who is going to arrest me for having a link on my website? That's such a load of bollocks. You're telling me I'm not allowed to link to whatever website I want? How about Google, that will link me to literally 100,000+ copyrighted files but noone has arrested them. Google is one of the webs biggest warez search engines, am I going to be arrested for having a link to Google on my site? Anyone who believes just because something is illegal in the US, is illegal the world round is greatly mistaken. It's completely legal in certain countries to sell and distribute copyrighted material, and in others, it's a grey area where the government doesn't really take any action.
