Why do people join a forum that they don't like?

Lately many of DMOZ editors have been joining this forum and unlike the rest of us who enjoy the open environment of this forum, they are constantly complaining about everyone here and even call this forum digitalpointless.

My question is why do these people join this forum? It is not like they don't have any place to discuss DMOZ. They have both DMOZ internal forum and RZ in their disposal. What is this need to censor any discussion regarding DMOZ?

 

Reading these threads sure do make the beer go down real good!

 

Also this forum is more relevant to real problems in DMOZ than RZ is. You just need to get use to functioning in democratic environment, I am sure it is a big shock when you are used to censorship in RZ.

 

Why do you and others read RZ (and even call it Resourceless Zone)? Why did you join the ODP? You profess to like neither and claim that DP is better.

I don't post there very much anymore. Since there are no status checks, what good would I be re-phrasing the same stuff over and over again.

 

I don't post in RZ and I don't ask people to join, so they can complain about people who post and get them banned, do I?
There is no need to censor RZ, it is already censored. I don't know if you are aware or not but ODP is not a forum, it is a directory run by volunteers. All volunteers that are active in an organization should try to improve the organization and make it better, unless it is a kind of volunteer that has no interest in organization and only is interested to list his/her own site.

 

Hmmm...gworld loves to repeat the same thing over and over and over and over...maybe he should start posting in RZ instead of here!

 

I noticed your post here are more friendly also. May be the friendly and open environment in DP is effecting you. Soon you will not be able to go back to the dark side in RZ anymore.

Don't mind sidjf, the only thing he doesn't like for me to repeat is "AFFILIATE DOORWAY" pages, the rest of my postings he is cool with.

No man, you got it backwards! "AFFILIATE DOORWAY" and "AFFIRMATIVE VIEW" are the absolute best parts of your posts! I truely miss seeing them...

 

Well, i can only speak for myself.
1. Help those with honest questions about the ODP that I am able to help. Doing this with a little bit more hand holding than you will find in RZ.
2. Encourage those who want to become an editor.
3. Balance, if only by a little, the negative bias against dmoz that is so prevalent in this forum.
4. And drink beer with gb

Isn't RZ suppose to be "official/unofficial" forum for DMOZ? Why don't you try to improve the situation there, so people can come and ask their questions?
Are you telling us that RZ is hopeless and people running it do not care what an editor like you wants and prefer to insult posters instead?

 

RZ is pointless. It's main purpose is to read before bed to get tired.

 

Do you believe that everyone goes to RZ for questions? Why is there even an ODP thread here?
Besides there are plenty of editors in RZ.
