AdSense Paid Me Over $58,000 - How About You?

For my 500th post, I thought that I might use a "forum-bait" title, just for fun.
Go to your "Advanced Stats", and select "All Time".
What number do you get? Post it here, or not. It's up to you.
Liars not allowed, but braggers are OK.

    My formula -
    1. Improve current content - always.
    2. Add more and better content.
    3. Use only one ad block per page - I use the 250x250 because it only has 3 ads max, and it has bigger print. I use "text-only" ads. Top-center, above the fold, but below the title.
    4. Monitor stats daily - react to poor stats, and watch for weird stats. If your server is having problems, your stats will tell you right away.
    5. Never buy links - all my traffic is natural.
    6. Continually be aware of changing Adsense Terms of Service. COMPLY.
    7. Forget about SEO ads - webmasters don't click.
    8. Use Google Analytics - this gives Google extra info that can help you to avoid being victimized by clickbomb attacks, content theft, etc. That way, you don't have to scramble so much when a problem occurs, because Google is watching the data, and they know better than you exactly what is going on.

I found that straight PPC is best.
Link units have never worked for me.
Referrals did not work for me.
CPM did not work for me, so I disabled site-targeting. CPM pays just a small fraction of PPC.

Mine is somewhere around 21,000, but this is over a couple years, so I obviously have a long way to go before I can live off of adsense. Those are goood tips though. I look at Google Analytics a lot but still have a lot to learn. I do ok on link ads, but it could be because of the way my site is (I provide a lot of links to useful websites and the link ads blend in so maybe that's why they do well). I will try the 250 x 250 idea and see if it helps. I don't think I have ever used that, but bigger print seems like it would help. Thanks for all your suggestions.

I have a love hate relationship with posts like these. I love to read them because they inspire me and show me that it can be done, but on the other hand, it depresses me because I haven't come close to that kind of success and I have so far to go.

Congrats, Surf Dude. I hope someday I'll be where you are now.

Most of my money has come the last 2 years. I decided that what I would post would be my average earnings per click. I have averaged .219 per click.

Has anyone tried a table with 2 250x250 ads side by side?

I've only earned $1,180 since april 2006. Nothing to brag about, yet it covers the hosting cost and beer money.

I should add a few facts.
I do this stuff all day, every day. Based upon this, I feel that my performance should be much better. But then, I am my biggest critic.

    Disadvantages -
    1. I make about 1/4 of what I used to make as a hardware/ applications engineer.
    2. Like everyone else, I fear "the" dreaded email. I would survive, but I would be very unhappy. I live and breathe the AdSense TOS.

    Advantages -
    1. I am at retirement age, and have not yet applied for Social Security.
    2. I do not have to report to a clueless boss, any more.
    3. I do exactly what I want to do, and I do not have to perform someone else's menial tasks
    4. I do not have to drive "the hill" to Silicon Valley, on the treacherous Highway 17 (40 miles, one way, 1,800 feet elevation, twice a day, idiot cell phone drivers drifting from lane to lane, tail-gating hyper-idiots)

Is it worth it? 12 hours a day? It sure is. What else would I be doing? Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha. For me, it is all about learning new things, and getting paid for it. Can't beat that.
