I have $100 in paypal burning a hole in my digital pocket. What kind of site will that get me (with what kind of earnings)? All responses appreciated.

    Thanks.

hmm it would probably get you a good turnkey site with no revenue or a semi decent site with low revenue (like $5 a month)

I would say $10/month websites would be more likely to be bought with $100, following the general standard.

Ive purchased a website, in the thousands, and have made no money off it, lost more in trying to advertise it.. :(

Best bet, start off with a small site, and work your way up, that way you can learn how to advertise these things and master the tricks in doing it.

With $100 you would still be in the newly made sites or a site somebody is making very little money with and want to drop it onto someone.

I say if you really want a website, keep doing what made you that $100 in the first place. Once you get over $500 you will have money to make a website about what you love or just buy a website with a nice revenue stream.

If I buy a website for $100 and it earns me $5-$10 a month, will I have the chance to develop it further so it earns more than that or more than $100-$200/month just by promoting it and not having to spend more to promote it?

For $100, you can get a site to get you started with some content/traffic, and like others suggested $5~10/month revenue. Well you break-even with your hosting cost.
The more important thing is to learn to make your site thrive with more traffic. Then you get your investment back. On a different note, if you enjoy playing with the site (e.g. voicing your views) $100 is a good investment for the hobby. Keep in mind that most site for sale are because the owner cannot or don't want to take the site forward.

You could get a great site with a lot fuctions but no traffic. You have to do a lot promotion youself.

For $100 you could have both the sites in my sig they earn a little bit of revenue, and get traffic, both sites are ideal to adverise and make more popular.Hosting for both sites are $5 a month.
