Hey all, below are the links pointing to various different variants of my home-site (with pretty much the same content; however, there are only slight differences in the site's code, like the inner-links, the host-specific banners etc.), which is generally about the important computing-related stuff (that I've discovered so far), i.e. it contains my computing principles, tweaks, rules and general configuration hits. They mostly contain no popups or banner-ads and are all W3C-valid, however, the code added by some of free-hosts screws it (but for example, the one hosted at 50webs ad Atspace free-host are valid also in the "on-line" form), therefore I am posting the links to all the site's variants.

Links to my home-site's primary variants:

    http://users.volja.net/tayiper (redirects: http://tadej-ivan.be, http://www.tadej-ivan.tk), http://satyrhosts.bravehost.com (redirect: http://takeoff.to/ivan-tadej), http://ivan-tadej.atspace.com (redirect: http://www.ivan-tadej.tk), http://tadej-ivan.50webs.com

Links to my home-site's secondary variants:

http://shirker.freehost386.com, http://www.geocities.com/tayi137, http://www.satyrhosts2.greatnow.com, a totally out-dated one http://www.freewebs.com/satyrhosts (however, this one was the first one that I created)

I am posting this "review" thread before the next major site-update, in which I will add AdSense code, H1, H2, and H3 elements and various other SEO-related stuff. You see, it's that I learn so many new things each day, so that each site-update schedule contain many major and minor revisions to site's code. So far, if I do a query for my name "Ivan Tadej", as well as for "Tadej's homepage" they're the first ones in Google's results (and other search-engines too), so I guess my site is already SE-optimized. But anyway, I am just in the middle of the process of deciding which types of ads to display on my sites. And since there is a rule/policy to be able to "Up to three ad units may be displayed on each Web site page", I was thinking to diplay a single "Text Ads - Banner - 468 x 60" on my "index.html" page, then on my "root-main" pages two separate "Text Ads - Leaderboard - 728 x 90" (and maybe also one "Text Ads - Banner - 468 x 60" instead of the Mozbot search-box), and on the "root-main" pages also two separate "Image Ads - Leaderboard - 728 x 90" (i.e. placed on two different locations, probably on top/bottom), and similarly to the above example maybe also one "Image Ads - Banner - 468 x 60", ahain instead of the Mozbot search-engine. So my first question is the following: in general, which ones are recommended, the so-called "Text Ads" or "Image Ads", which one are known to perform better ?? And as second, I am curious, if I will decide in the end to place two separate "Leaderboard - 728 x 90" ads (on top/bottom), will they diplay the same or different content ??

Anyway, this amateur(ish) computing related home-site site was written by myself, and is edited/updated by me only; mostly crafted/typed "by-hands" and with a bit of copy/paste in some of the JS's cases. I just want to say that it's not built on templates or even worse; made with "make-your-own-webpage-in-20-min" type of programs, mainly because I wanted to know enough HTML/CSS and JS to write my own home-site. Further, I have created this site of mine mainly because I wanted to make a site that will (try t)o express/describe all those other "practical things" that one learns after few years of devoted and even "obsessed" computer usage. In other words, I didn't want to make a site with listed well-known "registry tweaks" and security programs (like there are many already out there), while also note that the emphasis is on the site's content and not the outlook simply because I wanted to make the site as simple and as fast-loading as possible, so there is no "fancy" code etc. Let me also say that I am totally amused about everything related to website coding with various languages (i.e. mainly languages like HTML, CSS and JS), while I am also somehow interested in "studying" the various aspects of usability; however, in my own case this applies more or less to usability in programs' interfaces (the customization of configuration etc.); for instance, I had a period of time when I've actually studied the most common and frequently used mouse-moves and general navigation in my Total Commander file-manager (for example, to set its icons, menus, dialogs in the configuration .ini file to be as logically structured as they can be, and also to place its buttons and other customizable GUI stuff in an optimal manner) and so on.

P.S. -- Also, I've converted my home-site from HTML to XHTML relatively recently; so if you want to, please check out the Converting HTML documents into XHTML thread that I opened about it at the Ars Technica forums. While additionally, I also moved all the CSS declarations to the external .css file. I haven't done this before simply because I wasn't planning to do this until I will "convert" my whole site to the "pure CSS" by using the pure "three column" layout (i.e. with all the three standard boxes: Header, Content and Footer)

    thanks, tayiper

Sorry, but I really don not understand why. I mean there are no guidelines or something that I would not follow; in fact I even don't know nor can I guess what do you have in mind by saying this ...
