Give me a break! "We don't think it's right..." Wah-wah-wah!

Should they set IE to default to Google?

lol , why microsoft is not accusing google that they do not let users choose from google/yahoo/msn when entering to :www.google.com

Why FireFox cames out with Google as default ! Why MSN is not in FireFox?! they where advertesing the Firefox on all AdSense Market!!! Isn't this also anti trust!? And why the google toolbar don't came out with an option for swiching between Google/MSN ?!

google, also want to do some G! PCs no? they want to be the next Microsoft lol

I understand their concern in the sense that Microsoft has a near-monopoly on browsers, which they obtained through (illegal) monopolistic practices, and they are now trying to leverage that monopoly to create a new one.

I don't know enough about the law to predict how this will turn out, but it does seem that there's some basis for the argument.

I am no Microsoft lover, but Google may wish to think before "monopolistic practices" is used as an argument. It takes one to know one.

MS should focus on fixing their OS and get out of the browser business.

I would say, however hard Google tries to conquer the browser market and win this argument, as long as IE rules the browser world, their is no point in Google jumping around to remove default from MSN.

Google concerns about IE search box

Its interesting because Google is supporting Firefox and it has Google as default search engine.

I use IE7 Beta with the Google toolbar, which I always use for my searches - it's just that little bit closer to the page than that IE7 built-in search box!

This accusation by Google puts pressure on Microsoft not to automatically set MSN as the default - something which people will be aware of now. Google will do anything to make Microsoft look like the bad guy, regardless of their own practices. Everyone sympathises with the little guy, and for the most part, they will get public backing on this.

I guess the fact that because IE7 will be bundled with Windows Vista, less internet savvy users will unknowingly use MSN. I'm sure this is what they are really worried about.

Personally, I hope Microsoft grabs a big chunk of the search market. Google and Microsoft going head-to-head will yield some amazing new features for users as they try to outdo each other.

Oh, by the way, I think this is massive news:

Last week, Amazon.com, the world's largest online retailer, quietly switched from using Google's search technology to Microsoft's.

then let them do it through improved technology, not by the fact that msn is used becaused of windows and ie

Google vs MSN

I have better ranking in MSN
I get more natural visitors from MSN
I always use Internet Explorer
I use Windows XP
I am an AdSense publisher
But, Google is my default search engine

I remember a post not so long ago about how all new Dells are coming with a Dell branded Google search page as default.
I guess they'll be dropping that soon then!

I was reading this article about Google paying a billion dollars to Dell so 100 million dell PCs could come with some Google software like the Google toolbar and Google Desktop. But my opinion is that in the future Msn is going to increase in popularity but not dominate the search engines.

Thumbs down Google sucks...

If it wasn't for the AdSense I am publishing then I wouldn't use Google at all. I think they suck big time, especially after their so called updates this year when I had several sites removed for, God knows what, reasons.
MSN, on the other hand, is a better search engine with more accurate results, not so much spam sites like Google has and you can actually sned emails and get a response from MSN while "Gurgle" is hiding behind some "We got your email but see if we care to respond" kind of mentality.
Gurgle is trying to dominate the SE world just like MS is trying to dominate the OS world

I do not think Google will get much public support on this topic. With Google's market share increasing month by month it is pretty difficult to make a real case out of this at this point. Why should Microsoft help them to become even bigger if they are in the same market?

If Google would make the case and say that the users should be able to decide from a list of search engines (Yahoo, Google, MSN, Ask, etc.) I would think different eventually ....
