Using the coop may start to get more difficult!

I've noticed something peculiar in the coop.

Looks like there may NOT be enough real estate to push ads out or getting any benefits from the coop will be tougher.

I checked my stats for all my keyword/campaigns, the ones I use for my business, and am seeing the total ad impressions for all my campaigns running at atleast 1/2 the impressions they were a month ago. I've gained more weight during this time so you would think there would be a bit more impressions.

I also added more keywords/campaigns for another site/account I started and the impressions are still at ZERO after 3 weeks. I suspect that folks in the VE contest with enormous amount of weight, are exercising their weight options, and are flooding their ads out and the rest of us are eating table scraps. Or possibly there are so many people on the coop now that unless you have significant weight your progress is going to be sloooowwwwww. I have 30K + weight and have seen my campaign impressions drop significantly. When impressions drop, so do your ad distribution and likelyhood of getting a BL.

I belive this is happening because:

    1) New accounts into the coop are coming in with significant weight and indexed pages.

    2) Those same accounts are distributing very little impressions as they are not high traffic sites and in effect creating some sort of bottleneck.

    3) VE contestants may be aggressively pushing their supposive weight in hopes of getting to the top.

    4) Excess weight is being handled incorrectly

This is why it is important to bring in "number of impressions" given by a site into the weight formula.(I don't think impressions out is taken into account currently.) If not we'll see thousand of sites getting great indexing but providing little or no impressions to the coop. The end result, the strong sites will get stronger.

    Any comments, ideas or theories?

I tried the new shed excess weight "thingy ma jiggy" and capped myself at 10K, the result so far? A small dip in impressions for sites the first day, next day they shot back up again.

I get the feeling the cap tool isn't working as it should be, anyone else seen this on their account?

    imho,

I had many new sites, some traffic but almost zero PR, so they had almost no weight. I started shedding ads on those recently, and I think people with little weight are scared off having off site links on their pages.

So the only ones sticking around on my account, and I fee like other people, are my bigger dogs. This does create a weight rich environment, with limited web page real estate options.

    Good observations Frank!

Because of the caching mechanism, it takes 30 days to be in full deployment (or undeployment) for ads.

I just added my first site to the coop. It is a new site PR0, but has 2,000+ page views daily. It validated and had the coop ads running and noticed I had no 'weight'. I looked around the forums and it seems I get no benefit from giving 4000+ banner impressions daily (I had 2 on).

I guess I have to wait for that site to get to PR as now it is worthless to me in the coop. Wish there was a way to join before a PR update. If I got it wrong, please correct me.

As long as your pages are indexed by Google, you will get weight (regardless of PR).

    I think he's talking about....

Very little weight change over the last two months, but crash in impressions over the last month!!!!

While new ads I've made over the last month arn't having low impressions.

sayles, try making a new ad for each of your current ones and de-activate the original ads. The original ads will crash in impressions over the next month and the new ones might increase. (I've never tested this thery.)

Note to n00bies: Don't try this at home with the number of ad impressions a day. You might be GoogleBowled if you give a page this many views!!!!

Sorry, I should have emphasise "NEW SITES" in my post, rather than mention PR.

Just to clarify, do I only get weight for the pages that are indexed?

The site is now in google index, so I added the coop back. However, only the main page has been indexed thus far, so is that the only page generating weight for me, or do I get weight on the other 400+ pages that are running the coop?

    Thanks

Thanks for the answer. I'm leaving them up as I expect the rest of the site to be indexed shortly.

    What's googlebowled? ;)

Note: I don't believe any theories on too much weight or too fast aquisition.
