TV/Movie Site Generating $1000/Month Revenue

First let me start by saying I really don't want to sell this website. It earns great, passive income for me and requires very little maintenance.

TV-Stream.org is a really brilliant idea. It allows individuals to watch their favorite movies and tv shows online. Most websites (including tv-links.co.uk) got in trouble because they "deep-linked" directly to the movie files. This was deemed by authorities as illegal.

Where TV-Stream.org is different is how we link to the movies. We do not link directly to the videos or embed them, but rather, we link to other websites that in turn link to the files.

So all TV-Stream.org is a "middle-man" to get to the movies.

Search Engine Optimized

The website is extremely well optimized for Google. The website ranks #1 for the term "TV Stream", #4 for the term "Stream TV" and very highly for many other terms such as

"watch the office"

"watch the l word"

"watch sweeney todd"

The terms "TV Stream" and "Stream TV" are searched for more than the terms "Wordpress Themes" "Blogger Templates" "Make Money Online" "Get Rich" and so on. For proof, just go to google.com/trends and type the terms in and compare.

the list goes on. When a new movie is added, it is indexed in Google within 10 minutes.

Traffic

The website was started at the end of November of 2007 and to date has had 666,328 unique visitors and 1,558,343 pageviews.

When I was updating daily, the site would receive 20,000 + page views a day easy. This would typically take 1-2 hours a day max. For the months of February and January I updated every three days and subsequently received over 400,000 page views each of those months.

During the past two months, I haven't updated much because I have been busy taking care of a family member's estate and expenses since they passed away. Because of my lack of updating, daily traffic for the month of April has gone down to around 10,000 page views a day.

I know that this traffic can easily be picked back up again, but I simply don't have the time to do it at this difficult point in my life.

Subscribers

During the months of January and February when I was putting some effort into the site, I was averaging about 400-450 RSS subscribers to my feedburner account. During the past month, the number is around 350, but that can easily be bumped up.

Traffic Origin

This is another reason why I know the website is worth way more than most other streaming video sites.

According to Alexa, 64% of the traffic is from English speaking countries. It breaks down like this

United States - 39.8%

United Kingdom - 15.4%

Canada - 5.6%

Australia - 3.7%

US traffic is Golden. Many of these sites are popular in India and other asian countries which means it is much harder to market your products to them. With such a high percentage of the traffic being from the United States, you can easily promote mainstream products through your affiliate networks such as neverblueads, azoogle, cj, you name it.

Hosting

Website is on a shared server provided by Dreamhost. The website runs on Wordpress 2.5 and uses a free theme created by justin tadlock. The website can handle the amount of traffic it receives right now because of wp-cache being active as well as great restructuring of the site's layout.

Reason for Selling

The reason I am selling the site is because of unexpected debts that I now owe. A family member passed away recently and I was left with over $20,000 in debt that had to be paid. This was over a month ago and I have tried to resort to other methods to pay this off. Unfortunately, it has come down to having to sell my website I worked so hard on.

I feel bad because I know the potential of this site to be even bigger, but I have to play the hand that God dealt me and sell the site. While I would love to hold onto the site, I also face the reality of having to pay these expenses.

Revenue
Asking Price

I will be very polite, but firm in my stance that I can't sell my site for less than $10,000. The site easily generates over $1,000/month from many different sources. This is with very little work put in. I simply can't take any offer under $10,000 so please find another website to buy that might make you more money or is "more of a safe bet". I am looking for real buyers and I need to sell the website without messing around with people trying to low-ball me. Like I said, if you think the site isn't worth that much, than find another website to buy. Simple as that.

Adsense

Since the inception of the site, I have run Google Adsense on it. The most success I have had was the 300X250 Text/Image unit at the top of each post.

For the month of April, I stopped using Adsense because I was testing out ZangoCash gateways. These gateways prompt the user if they want to install the software, but allows them to opt out of if they want to. TV-Stream.org was not banned from Adsense, proof of that being the Front-Page of the site containing 300X250 ad unit in the right sidebar.

Adbrite

I ran Adbrite heavily during the months of January and February with some modest success. The two units I had running were text links at the post level and a 728X90 footer banner that got paid per 1000 impressions.

I have had one clickbank link in the header navigation since The beginning of January 08. This is for the NetMovieDownloads program offered through them.

It would be very easy to increase this number by promoting this program a little more.

Zango

Like I stated, I have been using Zango for the month of April. I have been using the Gateway that prompts the user if they would like to install the software, with the option not to. This gateway is used only on post pages, therefore increasing the likelyhood they will install the software because they can see the collection of movies and tv shows on every other page of the site without this prompt.

That is only for 17 days that I have run this Zango and only on post pages.

Other Ad Networks

I have used other affiliate offers through neverblueads and cj with pretty good success. I don't list the revenues from the months I used them however because less than $100 a month was generated from each of them.

How to Increase Revenue

An easy way to increase revenue would be to offer pop-under advertising to direct advertisers or joining an impression based network such as burst media or something like that.

Like I have stated previously, I have put very, very, very minimal effort in the site and have still seen great revenue

Expenses

With the exception of my hosting which is paid off until november of 2008, there are 0 expenses for the site. I have spent nothing on adwords or advertisements on other websites. 75% of the traffic is organic with the rest being direct type in traffic or sites that link to TV-Stream.

Sweet site, out of my price range, but I thought even linking was illegal. Not trying to hurt your sale, just curious as I own a watch tv-movies site as well. I thought that quicksilverscreen.com was eventually killed (by that I mean given away to someone outside us) because of this. At any rate I would buy it if I could as it is one of the best sites I have seen.
