HoTMetaL Pro. Easy. So good it got bought by a bigger competitor who discountinued it. If you can't beat 'em - buy 'em out and shut 'em down. I mean really, the different source, tag and browser views make it SO EASY to edit. It doesn't junk things up with bloated, unneeded code. HTML validation was great. I still use it, but wish there were updates.
Anyone who hasn't used dreamweaver doesn't know how amazing it is to code with. Please someone try and tell me there is something out there better than dreamweaver. It blows away those views in hotmetal pro. ahaha pm if you got questions how to get dreamweaver
Notepad / dreamweaver If I want to do something fast, I use the notepad. If its more complicated, I use dreamweaver.
Same as Pixel T. above, a combination of DW and notepad. I used to use 1st Page 2000 for donkeys years as well.
Notepad++. Got tabs and syntax highlighting. Thats all I need really. I don't get people who use dreamweaver to code with. It makes sense as a WYSIWYG editor, but for raw source code editing, its like driving an airplane to work. Why not use something lighter and solely dedicated to the task.
I use Areneae, so simple and handy for me, specialist in hard coding projects. I should say that eventually I need the aid of little freeware in adition to my html editor, small applications such as coolruler, colorcop and so on
I jope you mean a notepad other than Windows Notepad, plenty of limitations and annoyances. When it comes to notepad software I stick to metapad, similar but absolutely more powerful
Dreamweaver has great FTP features, and lots of auto-completing... Although the auto-completing was annoying at first, I got used to it, and now it makes everything really fast. It's not really that slow to open, but it does take a bit longer than good old Notepad. Also, I like Dreamweaver's colour scheme a lot more than Notepad++'s scheme. I know Notepad++ allows you to change it, but by the time i've changed the colour scheme, i've opened Dreamweaver 96 times. The thing about Dreamweaver, is that everything is already exactly where you want it. There's a file list on the left, a site manager where you can go onto FTP, and lots of other useful features. Such as the search and replace tool, which is multiline (Great for mass find-replacing ). And those are just some of the reasons why people use Dreamweaver to hand-code...
standard - dreamweaver is the nuts, though i do remember the days of using notepad... happy days they were..
