Optimising tips for Yahoo
What are your 3 main objectives when optimising any website for Yahoo?
I feature excellent on one keyword 'late deals' the rest of the keywords we optimise on are doing poor since Yahoo went independent. Even though Google will always bring in the highest majority of traffic I want to start to concentrate on Yahoo. Any suggestions are appreciated. Darren

Easier for me to suggest NOT TO DO'S:
1. Do not have multiple domains with similar or nearly identical content 2. Do not be a competitor to one of their 'sponsors' 3. Do not send Yahoo! an email about your disatisfaction about their results or your being banned and using your web domains email ![]() Yahoo! and their site match will not last. The results that are being served in the 5 or 6 different categories that I search daily will not keep consumers happy. Some of these sites are brutal. I think they make it to the #1 or #2 position by default because of the rest being booted for what Yahoo! is considering 'gaming'. ADD IN HERE #4: Do not use 301 redirects....... Well erm.. I was hoping for some ADVICE to actually optimise my site for Yahoo.
Gripe all you want about the search engines, without them the internet (and the money you earn from the net) would not exist. Advice, anyone? Darren

In my experience, on page factors count more on Yahoo than Google. Domain name seems to be quite important on Yahoo.
Make sure you have ur keywords in your title and h1 tag. |

I've seen that inbound links from a well known source (related or not) really increase your standings also. (on page is very important.)

I think you will find your choice of title tags to be the most important with Yahoo.

I'm starting to hear more about people using bold, italic etc styles for SEO. It's also made me think, because I have one KW set which I am No.1 on Yahoo for 'Late deals' and this page does have the KW's in bold a few times...
Does style play such a big part within Yahoo optimising though? Darren

The major thing you have missed and the most important single on-page element is the title. And don't forget good navigation that the bots can read and follow easily. |

I think by inbound they meant interior link anchor text, just a guess.

A couple of points about yahoo.
On page optimisation does really count - in particular, internal linkage. Keep it consistent, use your href title tags too, use anchors, and keep the links KW tight. Another minor tidbit. Subdoms. Yahoo treats them as seperate domains, just as G does, but doesn't filter for crosslinking etc.

in yahoo just repeat you key phrases over and over again
and make them into internal links thats will make a world of difference |
